FORT WORTH, Texas — Galderma’s Cetaphil brand of skin care products has launched its first fully integrated consumer marketing campaign.

The Gentle Power campaign, created by the brand's new agency of record Cramer-Krasselt, highlights the Cetaphil product formulations that are both gentle and effective for all skin types. The TV, print and digital advertisements focus on the skin, paired with statements that demonstrate how women balance the demands of their day-to-day lives with how Cetaphil products balance the day-to-day demands on their skin.

French beauty brand L’Oréal is buying back 8% of its shares from Nestlé, loosening their long-standing alliance, the companies have announced.

PARIS and LAUSANNE, Switzerland — French beauty brand L’Oréal is buying back 8% of its shares from Nestlé, loosening their long-standing alliance, the companies have announced.

L’Oréal will buy 48.5 million of its own shares. Following the transaction, Nestlé’s stake in L’Oréal will be reduced from 29.4% to 23.29% of the share capital and the Bettencourt Meyers family’s stake in L’Oréal will increase from 30.6% to 33.31%.

LAUSANNE, Switzerland — Swiss skin drug maker Galderma Pharma will acquire another Swiss drug maker also focused on treatments for skin conditions, Galderma said.

Based in Egerkingen, Switzerland, Spirig makes treatments for such conditions as solar damage and skin barrier function impairment, as well as treatments for such precancerous conditions as actinic keratosis. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, though it was noted that Spirig had sales of about $106 million in 2011. The global corporate headquarters of Galderma will remain in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Brown, 49, has served as president and CEO of Nestlé Canada since 2010, overseeing such global brands as Lean Cuisine, Kit Kat and Smarties. Previously, Brown spent 22 years at Nestlé Waters North America as EVP retail operations and general manager.

Cantarell will assume this role in addition to his current responsibilities as president and CEO of Nestlé Health Science. Between 2001 and 2005, he was in charge of Nestlé’s Nutrition Strategic Business Division.
