Pharmacy benefits administrator Argus Health Systems has signed a deal with Amber Pharmacy to provide expanded specialty pharmacy options to patients, Argus said.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Pharmacy benefits administrator Argus Health Systems has signed a deal with Amber Pharmacy to provide expanded specialty pharmacy options to patients, Argus said.

The collaboration between Kansas City, Mo.-based Argus and Omaha, Neb.-based Amber will allow Argus to offer customers a new option when selecting a specialty pharmacy provider.

GREEN BAY, Wis. — General merchandise retailers Shopko and Pamida have completed their merger that will create a $3 billion company that serves largely rural communities in 22 states.

The combined entity will retain the Shopko name. Shopko will be headquartered in Green Bay and Pamida’s corporate headquarters in Omaha, Neb., will be consolidated into the Green Bay office over the next several months.

The company said it is voluntarily recalling all lots of select bottle packaging configurations from retailers of Excedrin and NoDoz products with expiration dates of Dec. 20, 2014 or earlier, in addition to Bufferin and Gas-X Prevention products with expiration dates of Dec. 20, 2013 or earlier.

FREMONT, Neb. — Natura Pet Products has expanded its California Natural grain-free line.

California Natural grain free now includes two varieties of adult dog food: kangaroo and red lentils formula and salmon meal and peas formula. Both products contain novel proteins, in addition to essential vitamins and minerals to ensure canines have a complete and balanced diet, the company said.

The new formulas are available in 5-lb., 15-lb. and 30-lb. bags, and will hit retail next month.

NEW YORK — Bills introduced in the legislatures of nearly a dozen states have pharmacy benefit managers and the generic drug industry fearing that the bills could lead to limits on doctors’ abilities to prescribe generics through e-prescribing.

The Pharmaceutical Care Management Association, the main lobby for PBMs, said the bills would prohibit doctors from seeing lower-cost drug options, including generics and preferred brands; would prevent the e-prescribing software from showing safety information; and would disallow lower-cost pharmacy options.
