The donation includes $25,000 cash for the American Red Cross to aid their efforts and an additional $12,500 that can be used either as cash or product donations to local organizations in Alabama, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky and Missouri.

In the wake of tornadoes that hit communities in Kentucky on Friday, retail pharmacy chain Rite Aid has donated to a local Red Cross chapter to assist victims.

CAMP HILL, Pa. — In the wake of tornadoes that hit communities in Kentucky on Friday, retail pharmacy chain Rite Aid has donated to a local Red Cross chapter to assist victims.

The company said Sunday that the Rite Aid Foundation, its philanthropic arm, had donated $15,000 to the Bluegrass chapter of the American Red Cross. The foundation also will provide supplies and items to assist with disaster relief efforts. Eli Lilly Foundation also pledged to donate $100,000 to the Red Cross.

Tops announced last week that it would open the store, which it had to close due to "significant" flood damage from Tropical Storm Lee, which caused severe flooding in the city.

CAMP HILL, Pa. — Rite Aid announced Tuesday that its charitable arm has donated funds and filtration masks to the American Red Cross to benefit ongoing relief and recovery efforts in communities across south central Pennsylvania that were affected by Tropical Storm Lee.

The Rite Aid Foundation donated $15,000 to the south central Pennsylvania region of the American Red Cross, in addition to 10,000 filtration masks, as requested by the American Red Cross.

Rite Aid operates 71 pharmacies and employs more than 4,370 people in south central Pennsylvania.

MINNEAPOLIS — Target has assisted Texas wildfire relief efforts by donating $60,000.

Target said that a $25,000 cash donation was made to the American Red Cross with the additional cash and product donations — including 12,000 bottles of water, 3,600 bottles of Gatorade, 500 boxes of snacks, clothing, diapers, toiletries and bedding — made to other nonprofit organizations in the Texas area.

CAMP HILL, Pa. — Rite Aid's philanthropic arm is donating $50,000 to Hurricane Irene relief efforts, Rite Aid said Wednesday.

The retail pharmacy chain said the Rite Aid Foundation was making the donation to the American Red Cross, in addition to donations of baby formula, personal hygiene products, first aid and cleaning supplies to several nonprofit organizations in New York and Vermont — areas that were particularly affected by the hurricane.

Stores in Kill Devil Hills, N.C., Corolla, N.C., and Kitty Hawk, N.C., were all closed as Hurricane Irene continues its path along the eastern shores.

Harris Teeter also noted that it has prepositioned tractor trailers with generators and dry ice at key distribution points and also has stocked stores in advance with disaster supplies including water and ice.

CVS Caremark and CVS/pharmacy colleagues in the region collected and donated first aid and personal care supplies valued at approximately $35,000 to local relief efforts in Joplin. In addition, CVS Caremark has made a $5,000 donation to the American Red Cross.
