EAST HANOVER, N.J. — Triscuit announced this week a new line of crackers that adds brown rice to its traditional wheat cracker.

New Brown Rice Triscuit crackers are made with 100% whole grain brown rice and wheat, and pieces of sweet potato and red beans mixed in. Brown Rice Triscuit crackers contain 21 g of whole grain per 29 g serving. The new line of crackers does not contain high fructose corn syrup, hydrogenated oil, cholesterol or artificial flavors.

After several lackluster years, cookie sales were up in 2011 and are likely to show slight gains this year. The category was buoyed largely by sales of basic cookies, according to a recent report from Mintel, while premium cookie sales were hurt by a tight economy and increased media attention on America’s obesity epidemic. Mintel forecasts more growth for the premium segment from 2013 to 2016.

The new snack comes in three flavors: Peanut Butter, Peanut Butter and Chocolate, and Banana Vanilla Crème. Honey Maid Grahamfuls are made with honey and 100% whole grain, offering 10 g of whole grain per serving. They do not contain high fructose corn syrup or artificial flavorings and are a good source of calcium. Suggested retail for a box of eight individually wrapped Grahamfuls is $4.19.

NORTHFIELD, Ill. — Although its Oreo cookie brand turned 100 years old this year, Kraft Foods said the brand's global presence is greater than ever.

Oreo grew double digits in North America during first quarter 2012 and nearly 40% in Europe and developing markets, the company said. Sales of Oreo also grew nearly 25% in 2011, Kraft Foods said.

The two new television ads feature "Saturday Night Live" alumnus and "30 Rock" star Tracy Morgan and legendary "Jeopardy!" host Alex Trebek, each enjoying Wheat Thins' new flavors, spicy buffalo and zesty salsa, respectively. The new ads build on the brand's first ad earlier this year, which featured characters from the animated comedy "Family Guy."

Kraft also leads in the branded cracker category with a 37% market share, according to Packaged Facts, despite poor performance from its Ritz and Wheat Thins lines this year. Consumers remain interested in reduced sodium products.

The brand has introduced its fudge-filled chocolate chip cookies called Chewy Gooey that will be available in two varieties. The Chewy Gooey Chocofudge variety features a soft chocolate chip cookie made with real chocolate chips filled with a layer of smooth and creamy fudge, while the Chewy Gooey Megafudge variety is a soft, brownie-like chocolate chip cookie with real white chocolate chips and filled with a layer of smooth and creamy fudge.

EAST HANOVER, N.J. — SnackWell's has overhauled its line of products for women with new portioned, indulgent snacks.

The brand, which is owned by Kraft Foods, said the latest SnackWell's treats will range from 100 to 150 calories per pack. The products, along with such classic SnackWell's treats as devil's food cookie cakes and creme sandwich cookies, will feature new and modern packaging.

The new SnackWell's products made their debut nationwide in mid-April with a suggested retail price of $3.19 per box; each box features five individually portioned packs.

New Cracker Creations feature vegetables, cheese or herbs baked right into the cracker and currently are available in garden vegetable and parmesan herb varieties. The crackers also tout a real cream cheese filling, Lance said.
