Hispanics consume disproportionately high amounts of legumes, eggs, chicken and seafood compared with non-Hispanics, and the level of importance of these foods remains relatively unchanged from five years ago, and tradition and heritage drive meal choices among both Spanish- and English-speaking Hispanics, according to the NPD Group's "NET Hispanic" study. NET stands for "national eating trends."

Men are putting their best face forward and are catching up to women by taking on a skin care regimen that goes beyond a hasty shave.

As previously reported by Drug Store News, the NPD Group released in 2012 the results on the men's skin care market and found that men's skin care sales in the prestige market increased 6% between January and July 2012, compared with the same time in 2011, generating $45.5 million. In addition, NPD found that at least 7-out-of-10 men are buying facial skin care products for themselves.

While all prestige gift sets saw double-digit gains, the greatest lift was reported in makeup gift sets. Between January and October 2012, total makeup gift sets rose 26% to $116 million compared with the January to 
October 2011 period.


Total skin care gift sets increased 23% compared with the year-ago period to reach $276 million.


Total sales of fragrance gift sets climbed 10% to $479 million versus 
last year.

NEW YORK — Cosmetic Executive Women recently recognized the most innovative beauty products of the year at the 18th Annual CEW Beauty Insiders’ Choice Awards.

The award-winning products ranged across 29 categories, including cosmetics, hair care, skin care and the newly added nail category. There were more than 625 entries and146 finalists.

The CEW Beauty Awards is the only awards program where the winners are determined exclusively by beauty industry professionals. More than 4,600 CEW members selected the winners.
