MINNEAPOLIS — Target announced plans to remodel several stores in the Charlotte, N.C., area.

According to the company, the remodeling began March 27 and includes such features as an open-market fresh food layout, complete with a selection of fresh produce, fresh meat and baked goods. The new layout also features reinventions in several other areas throughout the store, including beauty, home, baby and shoes.

MINNEAPOLIS — Target's deal with Lady Gaga may have fallen through, but that doesn't mean the retailer has lost its ability to court the music industry.

Case in point, the company announced Monday that it is partnering with Grammy and Academy Award-winning singer and actress Jennifer Hudson for the exclusive, deluxe edition of her second studio album, "I Remember Me." The deluxe edition, including four additional new songs and bonus video material, will be available only at Target stores nationwide and on Target.com beginning March 22.

MINNEAPOLIS — Target has made the Ethisphere Institute’s World’s Most Ethical Companies for 2011 list, the retail chain said Thursday.

Target said the institute, an international business ethics organization, honored Target for business practices and initiatives that benefit the community. This is the fifth consecutive year in which the company has won the award.

MINNEAPOLIS — Target Clinic is slated to open eight new locations in three markets.

The clinics will open in Target stores in the Twin Cities, Chicago and Ft. Lauderdale-Davie areas by the end of July, bringing the total clinic count to 44. The first new Target Clinic location opened March 2 in Minnesota.

Target said expanding its clinic business will increase access to healthcare services.

MINNEAPOLIS — February same-store sales at Target advanced 1.8%, thanks to the addition of fresh food and consumables that are part of an aggressive remodeling program causing more people to shop its stores.

The company said more than half of its February same-store sales gain were driven by an increase in transactions combined with a small increase in the average transaction size. The 1.8% gain comes on top of a 2.4% increase in February 2010.

Quarterly profits were slightly more than $1 billion, compared with $936 million the prior year. Fourth-quarter sales increased 2.8% to $20.3 billion, compared with $19.7 billion in the prior year, and were aided by a 2.4% increase in same-store sales.

MINNEAPOLIS — Mill Creek Entertainment is releasing historical documentary compilations about war on DVD March 22.

The lineup includes "The Last Voices of WWI," a two-disc DVD collection; the single-disc DVD of "The Revolutionary War: Heroes and Battles"; the 12-disc "America's Wars" documentary; and the 11-disc "WWII: The War that Changed the World," which will make their way to retail.

The DVDs range in prices from $9.98 to $29.98.

The dividend of $0.0875 per share is payable on March 15 to stockholders of record as of the close of business on March 1.

As of Feb. 4, there were approximately 212 million shares outstanding, the supermarket retailer said.

On March 22, the company said it will release a single-disc DVD of "The Bill Cosby Show" Best of Season One, Cosby's Emmy-nominated first situation comedy, for a suggested retail price of $9.98.

Also coming to DVD is "Marcus Welby M.D." Best of Season One, the story of a committed family physician, which will feature 10 episodes on two discs for $9.98.

From Feb. 6 to March 16, shoppers at Target will find that Swiffer products — including Swiffer WetJet, Swiffer sweeper starter kit and Swiffer Dusters extender — will be adorned with red packaging. Red also will appear on displays in stores to help Target shoppers find the perfect Swiffer products to suit their floors.
