The Florida Pharmacy Association, together with a group of Medicaid patients, independent pharmacies and pharmacists from all over Florida, filed a lawsuit Thursday in Leon County Circuit Court against the Agency for Health Care Administration to seek to restore patient access to qualified Medicaid pharmacy providers.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The Florida Pharmacy Association, together with a group of Medicaid patients, independent pharmacies and pharmacists from all over Florida, filed a lawsuit Thursday in Leon County Circuit Court against the Agency for Health Care Administration to seek to restore patient access to qualified Medicaid pharmacy providers.

PHOENIX — The Apothecary Shops has a new name, the specialty pharmacy provider said Monday.

The Phoenix-based company, which operates specialty pharmacy chain with 18 locations in eight states, said it had changed its name to Avella Specialty Pharmacy and that the name change would take effect at all physical store locations and business operations by Aug. 1.

Specialty pharmacy provider The Apothecary Shops has acquired a Denver-based pharmacy, according to published reports.

NEW YORK — Specialty pharmacy provider The Apothecary Shops has acquired a Denver-based pharmacy, according to published reports.

The Phoenix Business Journal reported Tuesday that the company had acquired Colorado Pharmacy, making it the company's 17th.

The newspaper also reported that The Apothecary Shops would would change its name to Avella Specialty Pharmacy and rebrand its stores in August, quoting VP operations Randle House as saying the plan was to bring several company names under one umbrella.

The U.S. House and Senate passed their versions of PDUFA last month and worked to reconcile their individual bills into one final bill. Both chambers are expected to vote on the final conference report this week.

Gary Kadlec has been appointed president of Diplomat, reporting to the specialty pharmacy provider CEO's Philip Hagerman. But where MU’s e-prescribing requirements — such as two-way transmissions, complete active medication lists and formulary information — leave off, real innovation — characterized by real-time transactions, automated requests and responses, and Intelligent Routing like Emdeon provides — begins with many valuable benefits for providers, pharmacies and patients.
