Winn-Dixie on Wednesday announced it has joined forces with Feeding America to launch the Give a Meal program, which gives Winn-Dixie guests and team members the opportunity to help provide food to nearly 37 million Americans — including more than 14 million children — facing hunger this holiday season.

Walmart announced that it has launched a $25 million giving campaign aimed at filling the gaps created when schools close for the summer through its charitable arm, the Walmart Foundation.

WASHINGTON — Walmart announced that it has launched a $25 million giving campaign aimed at filling the gaps created when schools close for the summer through its charitable arm, the Walmart Foundation.

Funding to more than 350 local nonprofit organizations will help expand nutrition, learning and employment services for elementary, middle and high school students throughout the 2011 summer months, the company reported.

The Walmart Foundation has donated $5 million to Meals On Wheels Association of America to help fight senior hunger in communities across the nation.

BENTONVILLE, Ark. — The Walmart Foundation has donated $5 million to the Meals On Wheels Association of America to help fight senior hunger in communities across the nation.

Through the grant, MOWAA will boost the efforts of senior nutrition programs, organizations that provide critical services to more than 6 million seniors in the United States currently facing the threat of hunger.

NORTHFIELD, Ill. — It seems that Kraft Foods' Huddle to Fight Hunger program has reached the end zone.

Kraft said it plans to announce the donation of the monetary equivalent of more than 20 million meals to Feeding America during the inaugural Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl this weekend.

Kraft Foods is continuing its commitment to the fight against hunger with its football-themed hunger-relief initiative.

NORTHFIELD, Ill. — Kraft Foods is continuing its commitment to the fight against hunger with its football-themed hunger-relief initiative.

Kraft said Monday that the Huddle to Fight Hunger program reached 18.5 million meals, which is 93% of the program's goal. Its initiative encourages Americans to generate meal donations for Feeding America through several social media initiatives, including Facebook and Twitter.

The promotions lead up to the first-ever Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl on Jan. 9, which will be held in San Francisco.
