Pharmacy benefit manager Catamaran Corp. had $3.4 billion in revenues in second quarter 2013, the company said.

LISLE, Ill. — Pharmacy benefit manager Catamaran Corp. had $3.4 billion in revenues in second quarter 2013, the company said.

That figure represented a 101% increase in the PBM's revenues in second quarter 2012 and resulted in a profit of $63.4 million, 132% higher than last year.

"During the second quarter of 2013, we continued to successfully execute our growth strategy, driving new customer wins by leveraging our flexibility and customizable model to deliver more control and savings to our clients," Catamaran chairman and CEO Mark Thierer said.

Catamaran announced Monday the introduction of BriovaRx, which it said would mark "the beginning of a new day in the specialty sector, delivering personalized, holistic care to patients with complex and chronic conditions to improve health outcomes."

Pharmacy benefit manager SXC Health Solutions has picked a new name following its recent merger with another PBM, the company said.

LISLE, Ill. — Pharmacy benefit manager SXC Health Solutions has picked a new name following its recent merger with another PBM, the company said.

SXC, which recently merged with Catalyst Health Solutions to become the country's fourth-largest PBM by prescription volume, said it has changed its name to Catamaran. The company's shares will be traded under the ticker CTRX on the Nasdaq and as CCT on the Toronto Stock Exchange starting Wednesday. The company said the new name would reflect its "nimble, flexible" approach to serving clients.

Pharmacy benefit manager SXC Health Solutions has appointed president and CEO Mark Thierer as chairman of the board, the company said.

LISLE, Ill. — Pharmacy benefit manager SXC Health Solutions has appointed president and CEO Mark Thierer as chairman of the board, the company said.

Thierer previously was a director at the company and replaces Terrence Burke, who will retire from the company this year. Board compensation committee chairman Steve Cosler has been appointed lead independent director for the company.

LISLE, Ill. — Pharmacy benefit manager SXC Health Solutions had revenues of $1.95 billion in 2010, compared with $1.44 billion in 2009, according to an earnings report released Thursday.

Profit for the year was $64.7 million, compared with $46.1 million in 2009.
