Murad names chief marketing officer

Skin care brand Murad, whose products are sold in such retailers as Sephora and Ulta, has hired former Estée Lauder Cos. executive Suzanne Dawson as chief marketing officer, overseeing all global marketing including brand development, advertising, public relations, creative and education for products, services and new market opportunities.

The Estée Lauder Cos. on Thursday stated that Jane Lauder and Peter Lichtenthal will each assume additional responsibilities as part of the company’s previously announced strategic organizational redesign.

Lauder, global president and GM of the Origins and Ojon brands, will now add Darphin to her brand leadership responsibilities. Lauder will continue to report to Lynne Greene, who takes on her new role as group president of Clinique, Origins, Ojon, Aveda and Darphin on Jan. 1. Greene will remain president of the Clinique brand.

Estée Lauder has developed through IdeaBank — a division of the BeautyBank organization within Estée Lauder — a new beauty brand to meet the unique needs of Asian skin.

The new Osiao brand will debut exclusively in Hong Kong with Lane Crawford at the Canton Road and Times Square locations, starting in mid-October. Simultaneously, the brand will launch with Cathay Pacific Airways, in which a tailored selection of products will be offered on their Hong Kong flights.

The Estée Lauder Cos. — whose brand portfolio includes Bumble and Bumble, American Beauty, Aveda and La Mer — has appointed Tracey Travis as EVP and CFO.

Estée Lauder, fashion company Marni ink multiyear licensing deal

Estée Lauder announced that its Aramis and designer fragrances division will assume the exclusive worldwide license for the fragrance business of Marni, a Milan-based luxury fashion company founded by Consuelo and Gianni Castiglioni in 1994.

Kunes intends to continue to serve as CFO until June 30, 2012, or an earlier time as his successor begins to serve as CFO. Thereafter, he will continue his relationship with the company as EVP and senior adviser to the CEO, and work on special projects through June 30, 2013.
