LONDON — The head of drug maker AstraZeneca will retire next month, the company said.

The Anglo-Swedish drug manufacturer announced the planned retirement of CEO and board member David Brennan, effective June 1.

Executive director and CFO Simon Lowth will act as interim CEO following Brennan's departure, until a new CEO can be found, while VP group finance Julie Brown will become interim CFO.

GlaxoSmithKline is acquiring the remainder of a privately owned research and development company, GSK said Tuesday.

LONDON — GlaxoSmithKline is acquiring the remainder of a privately owned research and development company, GSK said Tuesday.

The British drug maker announced that it would buy the shares of Cellzome it doesn't already own for $99 million. Cellzome has labs in the United Kingdom and Germany, and will become part of GSK's research and development organization. The company, of which GSK currently owns 19.98%, develops technologies for profiling compounds in cells and patient samples.

LONDON — GlaxoSmithKline is moving forward with its acquisition of Human Genome Sciences.

The drug maker said Thursday that it has commenced its previously announced tender offer to acquire all of the outstanding shares of Human Genome Sciences for $13.00 per share in cash, a premium of 81% to HGS's closing share price of $7.17 per share on April 18, the last trading day before HGS publicly disclosed GSK's private offer.

The campaign recognizes and celebrates the moms behind the athletes by thanking moms for all they do, and is a part of P&G’s worldwide partnership with the International Olympic Committee. It marks the biggest campaign in P&G’s 174-year history and will run from now through the end of the Olympic Games.

The international pharmacy-led health and beauty group said the store — which was inaugurated by executive chairman Stefano Pessina, pharmaceutical wholesale division CEO Ornella Barra and health and beauty division CEO Alex Gourlay on Tuesday — is located in central Bangkok. Alliance Boots opened its first Boots store in Thailand in 1997, the company said.

Unilever said it plans to sell its Culver Specialty Brands division — which houses such brands as Mrs. Dash, Molly McButter, Bakers Joy, Sugar Twin and Static Guard, which are sold in the United States and Canada — to B&G Foods. The division, which garnered $90 million in revenue for Unilever for the 12 months ended in September, became part of the company after Unilever's acquisition of Alberto-Culver.
