WOONSOCKET, R.I. — Shoppers at CVS/pharmacy can now wirelessly upload images from their mobile devices to a Kodak Picture Kiosk, to create such photo products as photobooks, personal greetings and calendars at CVS/pharmacy Photo Center locations nationwide.

 ATLANTA — SoloHealth on Wednesday named Tim Kiss to serve as VP marketing — a new position at SoloHealth — as the company prepares for its nationwide rollout of the SoloHealth Station consumer kiosk this fall. SoloHealth also named Dan Bonert to VP advertising sales, promoted Eric Hoell to VP operations and promoted Stephen Kendig to EVP and chief commercial officer.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — After announcing patent infringement suits against Apple and HTC related to its digital imaging technology, Kodak also announced it filed a similar lawsuit against Fujifilm.

Kodak said the complaint was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of New York and was related to U.S. Patent Nos. 5,493,335; 6,292,218; 6,573,927; 6,441,854; and 5,164,831.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Kodak is looking to transform into a digital enterprise by going back to basics.

The company, which has been the subject of focus in the bankruptcy rumor mill, said it has implemented a new business structure that will increase productivity, reduce cost and allow it to deliver sustainable profitability and value to stakeholders. As part of the changes, Kodak has consolidated three units into two, which now are called the commercial segment and the consumer segment.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Rumors are swirling that Kodak moments may be no more.

According to published reports, the more-than-one-century-old company is looking to seek bankruptcy protection. The Wall Street Journal reported that could file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy this month or in early February and that Kodak was scrambling to sell some of its patents, though a Kodak spokesperson told the publication that "does not comment on market rumor or speculation."

The enhanced Facebook application is the flagship feature of the new Kodak Picture Kiosk software version 5.0 currently being rolled out to retailers worldwide, the company said.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Seattle-based regional retail pharmacy Bartell Drugs has replaced its in-store photo processing lab systems with Kodak Adaptive Picture Exchange, Kodak said.

The upgrade converts Bartell's processing lab systems from silver halide "wet lab" technology to APEX thermal dry labs.


Photo-processing is evolving, but it is far from finished. “While consumers are capturing, deleting and electronically sharing more images than ever before, they also are motivated to print larger [photos] and utilize their special images in other product forms,” said Bing Liem, VP sales for Fujifilm North America.


Retailers are finding profit opportunities in the “expressions” market, according to Gary Pageau, publisher of content development and strategic initiatives at the Photo Marketing Association.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Kodak's popular wireless frame with its own e-mail address is keeping up with the times.

The new generation of Kodak Pulse digital frames, which have Wi-Fi capability, will allow users to comment on photos they receive from friends and family with a Quick Comment button on the frame's touchscreen. What's more, the Pulse frame also connects to Facebook and Kodak Gallery albums, so pictures automatically are streamed to the frame.
