ROCHESTER, N.Y. — PharmaSmart International's blood-pressure screening program is in use in all the stores of a regional retail pharmacy chain in the Northeast.

PharmaSmart said it had deployed the peer-reviewed and clinically validated program at Kinney Drugs, which operates 97 stores in upstate New York and Vermont.

GOUVERNEUR, N.Y. — Specialty pharmacy service provider Noble Health Associates, a newly created subsidiary of regional player Kinney Drugs, is looking to open a mail-order facility in DeWitt, N.Y., according to a local news report.

Director of specialty pharmacy for Noble Health Michael Becker told The Post-Standard that it plans to open the facility in the spring or summer and will employ 31 people.

GOUVERNEUR, N.Y. — Kinney Drugs has kicked off the holiday season by hosting two separate gift-giving programs in all of its drug store locations to benefit less fortunate children and seniors.

From now through Dec. 14, Kinney Drugs is collecting new, unwrapped toys for children who may not otherwise receive gifts this year. During the holiday toy drive, toys collected at each store will be distributed to local children by a charitable organization within the store’s own community.

Wuest joined Kinney Drugs in 2006, and has been an active member of the executive team and an influential part of the company’s success over the years. He is an industry veteran whose contributions as VP marketing have been paramount to the advancement of Kinney’s marketing and merchandising strategies, the company stated.

NEW YORK — StoreBoard Media said Monday that Kinney Drugs has joined its in-store billboard network.

Under terms of the agreement, StoreBoard Media will place its billboards on the security pedestals at the entranceways to Kinney Drugs’ 94 stores in central and northern New York and Vermont.

"StoreBoard Media offers an attractive value proposition in that they take a nondescript structure — entranceway security pedestals — and help improve our sales and revenue with branded messaging," Kinney Drugs VP marketing Jim Wuest said.

GOUVERNEUR, N.Y. — Kinney Drugs announced on Tuesday that Jim Spencer, formerly VP retail operations, has been promoted to COO.

He will report to Bridget-ann Hart, president of Kinney Healthcare Services. In his new position, Spencer is responsible for overseeing retail and pharmacy store operations and the retail merchandising department. He is responsible for the ongoing development of pharmacy and retail services.

GOUVERNEUR, N.Y. — Kinney Drugs announced on Thursday that supervising pharmacist James Murphy has been named the Kinney Drugs 2011 Pharmacist of the Year.

Murphy, who works at the store located at 119 Main St., Richfield Springs, N.Y., was selected based on customer votes at all 91 Kinney Drugs pharmacies in Central and Northern New York and Vermont.
