WASHINGTON — The House of Representatives will be debating H.R. 5651 Wednesday afternoon — a bill that, if passed, will reauthorize the Prescription Drug User Fee Act. 

The Senate passed a similar measure last week by a vote of 96-to-1 with three senators not voting.

The Consumer Healthcare Products Association on Tuesday named John Gay as the association's VP government affairs.

WASHINGTON — The Consumer Healthcare Products Association on Tuesday named John Gay as the association's VP government affairs. Gay will begin his duties March 8.

Reporting to CHPA president and CEO Scott Melville, Gay will oversee the association’s state and federal government affairs departments, its political action committee, and will serve as a member of the association’s senior management team.

WASHINGTON This year’s elections may prove to be a boon to the business of dietary supplements and other natural alternatives, according to John Gay, Natural Products Association executive director and CEO. “This was the most remarkable election in my 25 years in Washington,” he said, “and the effects will be felt almost immediately.”

For example, Rep. Henry Waxman, D-Calif., who must now step down as chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, is seen as a potential positive for the industry, Gay said.
