PARIS — During a quarterly conference call Thursday, Sanofi president of global operations Hanspeter Spek noted that Sanofi's consumer arm Chattem will be relaunching the heartburn remedy Rolaids.

"We plan to relaunch the product, which has been absent of the American markets for production problems on the side of J&J," he told analysts. "We intend to launch the product by the end of 2013, which will further accelerate the performance of Chattem in the United States."

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. Johnson & Johnson is recalling millions of packages of over-the-counter drugs for allergies and pain due to manufacturing problems, according to published reports.

The New York Times reported Tuesday that J&J would recall 4 million packages of cherry- and grape-flavored Children’s Benadryl (diphenhydramine) tablets for allergies and 800,000 bottles of children’s Motrin (ibuprofen), a pain drug.

NEW YORK — Johnson & Johnson and the U.S. government are suing two generic drug makers to stop them from launching a generic drug for HIV, according to published reports.

 

Bloomberg reported Thursday that Tibotec, a subsidiary of J&J, and the government were separately suing Mylan and Lupin over a generic version of the drug Prezista (darunavir ethanolate), alleging patent infringement.

Johnson & Johnson is set to buy up the remaining portion of Dutch biotech company...

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. Johnson & Johnson is set to buy up the remaining portion of Dutch biotech company Crucell that it doesn’t already own, J&J said Friday.

 

The drug maker said the two companies were in “advanced negotiations” for J&J to buy up the remainder of Crucell for around $2.3 billion. J&J currently owns slightly less than 18% of the company through an affiliate.

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. Johnson & Johnson on Thursday reported that Colleen Goggins, worldwide chairman of the company's consumer group, has announced her retirement from the company effective March 1, 2011.

“Throughout her tenure, Colleen has demonstrated our commitment to our consumers and our people, and has made major contributions to our success,” stated Bill Weldon, J&J chairman and CEO. “We thank Colleen for her dedication and extraordinary service, and wish her all the best in the years to come.”
