Kinney, which operates stores in northern New York and Vermont, said the promotions would allow it to enhance relations with vendors and product planning and deliver improved product assortments.

Kinney announced the hiring of Jennifer Whalen as director of marketing and Steve Harris in the new position of inventory and replenishment manager. Both will work out of the chain's Syracuse, N.Y., office.

Parsons will report to general manager Richard Murad. In this role, Parsons will be responsible for procurement (purchasing, packaging engineering and quality control), as well as supply chain planning, distribution center operations and logistics, and information technology functions.

GRAPEVINE, Texas — A member-owned cooperative has inked a deal with a technology company that develops and provides integrated data-driven solutions for healthcare inventory logistics.

Topco said it selected Supplylogix to provide pharmacy inventory management and demand forecasting services, which will improve inventory positions and forecast demand for more than 60,000 pharmaceutical products sold across more than 1,000 pharmacy locations nationwide.

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Cough-cold supplier Matrixx on Thursday credited tough comparisons against the prior season’s high pre-season inventory purchases by retailers due to the publicity of the H1N1 flu outbreak for the lower level of sales for the quarter ended Dec. 31, 2010.

The company reported net sales of $20.3 million, down 29%. However, a lift in late December cough-cold illness rates holds promise for the second half of the season.
