WASHINGTON — Most U.S. moms are concerned about breastfeeding in public even though they understand that breastfeeding is the best way to feed their babies, according to the 2012 Lansinoh Breastfeeding Study released Thursday. 

“Breastfeeding in public became one of the hottest publicly debated topics in 2012," stated Gina Ciagne, senior director, professional relations at Lansinoh. "We were interested to find out how that affected moms’ decisions to breastfeed.”

Mam's anticolic bottle, which features a patented base, is designed to reduce the stress associated with newborn feedings and decreases colic symptoms in babies by 80%, the company said. ATLANTA — An organic baby food brand has introduced two new cereals designed for infants and toddlers.

Sprout Foods said its whole grain oatmeal and whole grain brown rice cereals build on the brand's starter infant and toddler products. The company said that its cereals, which are free of artificial ingredients, are packaged in a 7-oz., BPA-free, resealable pouch, also can be used later on as an ingredient combined with other Sprout products.

Sprout Foods products are available at retailers nationwide.

WASHINGTON — The Internal Revenue Service on Thursday reversed itself in announcing that breast-feeding supplies qualify as a medical expense.

The ruling now allows moms who are breast-feeding to purchase all supplies using a flexible spending account. Those without FSAs can deduct the expenses as part of their itemized medical expenditures, including breast-feeding expenses incurred in 2010.
