INDIANAPOLIS — Adults living with diabetes in the United States reported highest satisfaction using Roche Diabetes Care's Accu-Chek products compared with other blood-glucose-meter manufacturers, according to the inaugural J.D. Power and Associates 2012 Blood Glucose Meter Satisfaction Study released Tuesday. 

The study gathered responses from 2,681 current meter users with type 1 and 2 diabetes in the U.S. to determine customer satisfaction across six factors: performance; ease of use; design; features; cost of test strips; and training.

INDIANAPOLIS — Eli Lilly and Company on Tuesday reported that its fourth quarter revenue for the period ended Dec. 31 declined 1% to $6 billion because of its Zyprexa patent expiration. Full-year 2012 revenue declined 7% to $22.6 billion.

INDIANAPOLIS — More than two-thirds of generic drugs carry safety warning labels different from those of their branded equivalents, according to a new study.

INDIANAPOLIS – Eli Lilly is spending $140 million to expand its insulin manufacturing plant in Indianapolis, the drug maker said.

Lilly said it would expand the plant by 80,000 sq. ft., saying it represented one of the most significant investments in its U.S. manufacturing operations in the past decade. Construction is expected to start immediately, with completion planned for March 2014.

INDIANAPOLIS — A clinical trial of a drug for schizophrenia did not yield the desired results, the drug's developer said.

Eli Lilly announced results of the H8Y-MC-HBBM study of pomaglumetad methionil, for patients with acute exacerbation of schizophrenia. The company said results did not show the drug produced a significantly different effect from the placebo.

INDIANAPOLIS — Marsh Supermarkets on Tuesday recognized National Public Health Week with the introduction of a program to help people with diabetes better understand, manage and live with the disease — more than 9% of Indiana residents have been diagnosed with diabetes, the grocer noted.

The company said the new packaging will focus on highlighting the quality of the product inside, while still continuing to highlight the heart of the company's 10% "give back" mission. Along with the new look, the packaging also will feature updated animal plight facts, enhanced animal images and graphic elements, along with information about the company's on-the-ground work in Ecuador with the Endangered Species Chocolate Foundation.
