INDIANAPOLIS — Drug maker Eli Lilly has expanded its Spanish-language portal, the company said Friday.

Subsidiary Lilly USA launched an expanded "En Español" section of the Lilly For Better Health website. The section features a 60-page interactive health album that provides tips on healthy eating, physical activity and managing health conditions, as well as health-and-wellness quizzes and risk assessments on weight management, diabetes and other topics.

NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. — Manchester College is looking for a new leader for its pharmacy school, the private university's president said Tuesday.

The school's vice president and founding dean, Philip Medon, has resigned for health-related reasons, prompting the university to launch a nationwide search for a new dean. Medon joined the school last year. The school currently has 23 faculty and offers a four-year professional doctoral program. Classes are set to begin in August 2012.

Dan Burton, R-Ind., last week introduced a bill — the Dietary Supplement Protection Act of 2011 — that would reclassify approximately 25,000 supplements launched between Oct. 15, 1994, and Jan. 1, 2007, as "grandfathered" supplements and not subject to proposed new dietary ingredient regulations.

Eli Lilly and Amylin Pharmaceuticals are ending their diabetes-drug alliance, the two companies said Tuesday.

SAN DIEGO — Eli Lilly and Amylin Pharmaceuticals are ending their diabetes-drug alliance, the two companies said Tuesday.

Indianapolis-based Lilly and San Diego-based Amylin said they would terminate their alliance concerning exenatide, the active ingredient in the injected diabetes drug Byetta and its long-acting version, Bydureon, currently under investigation.

The VPP Star award, which was presented to the return center by IDOL deput commissioner Jeffrey Carter on Thursday, marks IDOL's highest designation for workplace safety and recognizes businesses that show excellence in occupational safety and health, Walgreens said.

INDIANAPOLIS — Eli Lilly is withdrawing one of its drugs from the market after clinical trials showed it to be ineffective.

The drug maker announced Tuesday the withdrawal of Xigris (drotrecogin alfa [activated]) from all markets following results of the "PROWESS-SHOCK" study, which found that it did not produce a statistically significant reduction in 28-day, all-cause death in patients with septic shock. The company said there were no new findings regarding the drug's safety profile.

CINCINNATI — Prasco Labs will make authorized generic versions of two psychiatric drugs made by Eli Lilly under a partnership between the two companies announced Thursday.

Prasco will market authorized generic versions of Zyprexa (olanzapine) tablets and Zyprexa Zydis orally disintegrating tablets. The drugs are used to treat schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

INDIANAPOLIS — Two senior leaders at Eli Lilly are retiring, the company said Tuesday.

The Indianapolis-based drug maker announced the Dec. 31 retirements of Lilly SVP and Bio-Medicines president Bryce Carmine, and president of manufacturing operations Frank Deane. Carmine and Deane have worked at Lilly for 36 years and 33 years, respectively. Lilly USA president Dave Ricks will replace Carmine, while SVP global drug product manufacturing Maria Crowe will replace Deane.

The Lilly NCD Partnership is committed to fight the rising burden of noncommunicable diseases in developing nations over the next five years, the drug maker said. Lilly said the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit overturned a ruling by the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey that had invalidated Lilly's patent for Strattera (atomoxetine) in a patent infringement case that Lilly had filed against generic drug maker Actavis, when the latter sought regulatory approval for a generic version of Strattera.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — An e-cigarette brand announced that its disposable e-cigarettes now are available at H-E-B and Meijer stores.

The company said that this marks Blu Cigs' transition from online sales to retail by being sold in all of H-E-B's 329 stores across Texas and Mexico, as well as Meijer's 196 supercenters and grocery stores throughout Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky. Each disposable e-cigarette equals about 20 to 30 traditional cigarettes, the company said.
