Third-quarter sales for Henkel rose 1.7% over the prior-year period, the company announced in its earnings release.

ROCKY HILL, Conn. — Third-quarter sales for Henkel rose 1.7% over the prior-year period, the company announced in its earnings release.

Third-quarter sales increased to 4.03 million euros (about $5.53 million). The company also said that after adjusting for foreign exchange, sales improved by 5.7%. Additionally, organic sales — which exclude the impact of foreign exchange and acquisitions/divestments — realized a 6.5% increase.

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Consumer demand has prompted Henkel to double production for one of its Purex products.

The company, which introduced the Purex Complete Crystals softener earlier this year, said that its plants have operated at full capacity since the launch of the in-wash fabric softener to keep up with the unprecedented demand.

To mitigate the number of product shortages until August, Henkel announced that it would suspend production of Purex Complete Crystals softener's Tropical Splash variety, which is 1-of-3 scents the brand produces.

In early 2010, TRESemmé introduced its Fresh Start collection, featuring the Fresh Start dry shampoo. More recently in 2011, several manufacturers have expanded the category, including Psssssst, now a Freeman brand, with a new version for wavy or curly hair that hit shelves in January.

Henkel's 2010 sales grew 11.2% to nearly $20.8 billion during the year, the company reported in its financial earnings release.

DUSSELDORF, Germany, and ROCKY HILL, Conn. — Henkel's 2010 sales grew 11.2% to nearly $20.8 billion during the year, the company reported in its financial earnings release.

Henkel's North American sector also experienced strong growth, garnering $3.75 billion in sales for the year, an increase of 7% from 2009. The company also noted that organic sales growth totaled 3.5%, mainly boosted by its adhesive technologies, although sales of the laundry and home care and cosmetics/toiletries business sectors declined.

The new corporate design will be implemented starting in February, when it will be applied to such publications as the annual report, recruitment ads and employee newsletters, in addition to the Internet and Intranet, and to Henkel conferences, trade shows and exhibits.

Henkel Consumer Goods is headquartered in Scottsdale and markets such consumer brands as Dial soaps, Right Guard antiperspirants, Purex laundry detergents and Renuzit air fresheners. Henkel purchased The Dial Corp., located in Scottsdale, in 2004.
