The new clinics are located in Arden, Asheville and Hendersonville. Three additional clinics are expected to open by the end of the year in Asheville, Brevard and Waynesville.

A few months ago, I found myself commenting on another website focused on healthcare-related news about the future growth potential for retail clinics versus urgent care centers. Actually, I was on the verge of a full-on debate with some other user, saved only by the grace of a site error. It is an ironic example of how technology can make humans more efficient — even if by mistake.

CVS Caremark’s MinuteClinic has opened three walk-in clinics inside CVS/pharmacy stores in the Cincinnati and Dayton metropolitan areas.

WOONSOCKET, R.I. — CVS Caremark’s MinuteClinic has opened three walk-in clinics inside CVS/pharmacy stores in the Cincinnati and Dayton metropolitan areas.

Three more clinics, two in the Cincinnati area and one in Dayton, are expected to open over the next four months with additional locations in both markets anticipated in 2013.

MinuteClinic launched its first retail medical clinics in Ohio in 2006 and now has 33 walk-in clinics inside select CVS/pharmacy stores in the Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus and Dayton markets.

ELMSFORD, N.Y. — BioScrip on Wednesday posted $155.9 million in second-quarter revenue, up 18.5% compared with the prior year.

"The second-quarter results demonstrate our progress in executing on our strategic plan," BioScrip president and CEO Rick Smith said. "We were able to close on the divestiture of the noncore pharmacy services assets and redeploy a portion of the proceeds towards the acquisition of InfuScience, while delivering sequential improvement on our adjusted EBITDA."

The legislation, which Gov. Deval Patrick said he would sign into law, includes an array of other cost-curbing provisions and is estimated to save as much as $200 billion in healthcare spending over the next 15 years.

“This law puts women and their doctors, not insurance companies or the government, in charge of healthcare decisions," Sebelius stated, citing regulations going into effect under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
