According to data provided by SymphonyIRI Group, a Chicago-based market research firm, sales of hairspray totaled $416.5 million, up 0.52%, at food, drug and mass (excluding Walmart) for the 52 weeks ended May 15. Sales of hairstyling gel and mousse rose 1.78% to $636.2 million during that same period.

Unilever's Axe Hair brand has announced that it is partnering with the nonprofit organization Wounded Warrior Project and promoting its new Axe Buzzed Look cream + SPF 15, its newest styling product.

NEW YORK — Unilever's Axe Hair brand has announced that it is partnering with the nonprofit organization Wounded Warrior Project and promoting its new Axe Buzzed Look cream + SPF 15, its newest styling product.

As part of the debut, Axe Hair is making a donation of $50,000 to the organization whose mission is to honor and empower wounded warriors.

The Arts & Cinema Media Centre, which ran in part during the Tribeca Film Festival, hosted the Conair Styling Suite, uniting film, art, culture, beauty and philanthropy during the three-day event, which ran April 25, 26 and 27.

To launch the challenge, actress Emmy Rossum of Showtime's "Shameless" Thursday is hosting a live event in New York's Union Square, where she is asking consumers to take "The Suave Challenge" to see if they can tell the difference between hair styled with new Suave Professionals and hair styled with top salon hair care products.
