In preparation for spring, the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology on Friday noted that avoiding certain fruits and vegetables, installing the proper air filters, closing the windows, filling any allergy prescriptions and consulting with an allergist can all prevent the delay of allergy symptom relief for more than 35 million Americans who suffer from seasonal allergies.

Kronos is expanding its bread products line with its acquisition of Pita King's commercial baking assets.

GLENDALE HEIGHTS, Ill. — Kronos is expanding its bread products line with its acquisition of Pita King's commercial baking assets.

The acquisition marks Kronos' foray into flatbread production. The company, which currently markets such items as Mediterranean Chef gyro family meal kit and Kronos Fillo Classics, now will market Pita King's authentic Middle Eastern pocket breads in a variety of sizes and formulations, including white and whole wheat.

MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. — According to a report in the May issue of Cell Metabolism, while drugs known as thiazolidinediones, or TZDs, are widely used in diabetes treatment, they have effects on the kidneys that lead to fluid retention as the volume of plasma in the bloodstream expands.

"TZDs usually increase body weight by several kilograms," stated George Seki of the University of Tokyo. "However, TZDs sometimes cause massive volume expansion, resulting in heart failure."
