CITY OF COMMERCE, Calif. — 99 Cents Only is opening its first Reno, Nev., store in July.

The company said the new store, which will open July 12, is 17,000 sq. ft. and will feature a large perishable food department, including produce, dairy and frozen foods.

99 Cents Only currently operates 300 retail stores, including 220 stores in California, 37 in Texas, 29 in Arizona and 14 in Nevada.

RALEIGH, N.C. — North Carolina may be two years away from joining Oregon and Mississippi as the only states to classify pseudoepehdrine as a prescription-only medicine.

ZEJTUN, Malta — Generic drug maker Actavis is donating 2 million euros worth of medicines to Libya, the company said.

Actavis announced the shipment of 170 pallets of medicines from Malta to the Libyan capital of Tripoli. The goods left Malta on Sunday and are scheduled to arrive in Tripoli this week. The products include cardiology, anti-infective, pain management and gastrointestinal drugs, among others.

JERUSALEM — Procter & Gamble has inked a master collaboration agreement with the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

MISSISSAUGA, Ontario — Canada-based drug maker Valeant Pharmaceuticals International has acquired a Kaunas, Lithuania-based specialty pharmaceutical company.

Valeant said it completed its acquisition of Sanitas Group, which operates in Central and Eastern Europe and Russia markets.

The deal, which initially was announced by Valeant in May, was valued at EUR314 million (about $450 million) in cash.

NEW YORK — Ethnic hair care brand Johnson Products is sponsoring this Memorial Day weekend Spring Fest 2011 in Miami and will promote its Ultra Sheen Men product line at the festival.

Known as Radio One's Annual Birthday Bash, the festival features some of the hottest acts in hip-hop, reggae and R&B. SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. — Second-quarter consolidated sales for regional supermarket chain Stater Bros. were up more than 3%, the company said.

Sales totaled $913.4 million for the period ended March 27, an increase of $27.9 million or 3.15%, compared with the year-ago period. Similarly, same-store sales also increased 3.15% or $27.9 million.

Stater Bros. also reported net income for the 13-week second quarter of $8.8 million, compared with net income of $6 million for second quarter 2010.

MIAMI — Recognized for its commitment to the community, Navarro Discount Pharmacies won the Top 100 Minority Business Award for large-company community involvement from the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce.

According to reports, the second location is opening on Tuesday at the Walmart store on Kietzke Lane.
