CAMP HILL, Pa. — Rite Aid has raised nearly $600,000 for a United Way chapter in Pennsylvania, the retail pharmacy chain said.

The company announced that employees in its corporate offices around the greater Harrisburg, Pa., area had raised $590,159 during its fundraising campaign for United Way of the Capital Region, for a total of nearly $5.8 million since 2002. Harrisburg, Pennsylvania's state capital, is near the company's headquarters in Camp Hill, Pa.

The chain, owned by Netherlands-based Royal Ahold and officially known as Giant Food Stores, will work with the DEA and local law enforcement agencies as part of the national drug take-back initiative on April 28, collecting unwanted medications at several of its stores.

PITTSBURGH — Giant Eagle is preparing to open its first in-store clinic in Pennsylvania, according to a report published by the Pittsburgh Business Times on Friday.

The clinic, Healthy Directions, is part of an existing program offered in cooperation with Monongahela Valley Hospital that will relocate to Giant Eagle. PITTSBURGH — Generic drug maker Mylan is looking for a bigger place to call home, according to published reports.

The Pittsburgh Business Times reported that Mylan was planning to move from its current 96,000-sq.-ft. headquarters in Southpointe, a development in the Pittsburgh suburb of Cecil Township, to a 250,000-sq.-ft. building nearby.

The new headquarters is under construction, the newspaper reported.
