HBA executive Gary Burns passes away

Gary J. Burns, 74, of Lake Forest, Ill., and Naples, Fla., passed away July 24. He was born Feb. 7, 1938, in Saginaw, Mich. Burns served in the U.S. Army and then embarked upon a long and successful career in the health and beauty aids industry.

RediClinic goes mobile for customers on the go

Retail-based clinic operator RediClinic has gone mobile.

HOUSTON — Retail-based clinic operator RediClinic has gone mobile.

RediClinic has announced that customers on the go now have mobile access to its site, RediClinic.com. By visiting the site, consumers can check out the services offered and promotions, get details on its Weigh Forward program, and more.

RediClinic operates 29 clinics within H-E-B stores in the Greater Houston, Austin and North San Antonio areas.

Sam's Club set to open new Baton Rouge store

Sam's Club is set to open its newly relocated store in Baton Rouge, La., on Jan. 26.

BATON ROUGE, La. — Sam's Club is set to open its newly relocated store in Baton Rouge, La., on Jan. 26.

The 134,000-sq.-ft. club, located at 9598 Cortana Place near the junction with Airline Highway, now will be part of the Cortana Mall shopping area, approximately one mile south of its former location. The club also features environmentally friendly materials and LED energy-efficient fixtures.

To celebrate the grand opening, the store will host a Louisiana-pride themed ribbon-cutting ceremony at 8 a.m. on Jan. 26.

MinuteClinic becomes participating provider with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona

MinuteClinic announced on Thursday that it has become a contracted provider with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona, which provides health insurance products, services or networks to 1.2 million individuals.

WOONSOCKET, R.I. — MinuteClinic announced on Thursday that it has become a contracted provider with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona, which provides health insurance products, services or networks to 1.2 million individuals.
 
Under the agreement, these individuals now will have access to 16 MinuteClinic walk-in medical clinics located inside select CVS/pharmacy stores in communities throughout the Phoenix and Tucson metropolitan areas.

Survey: 37% of retailers now have a mobile site

The third annual Mobile Audit, released Thursday by e-commerce and digital marketing company Acquity Group, found that mobile adoption is on the rise. In fact, the percentage of retailers with a mobile site reached 37% in 2011, up from 12% in 2010 and only 4% in 2009 — a 210% increase over the past year alone.

Safeway to donate funds to Tucson shooting victims

Safeway announced that it has formed a fund to aid the victims of the recent shooting that occurred in one of its Tucson stores.
