ALLEGAN, Mich. — Perrigo on Monday announced it has kicked off a broad industry marketing and communications campaign to raise awareness for, and consumer confidence in, generic over-the-counter store-brand medications. 

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Advanced Vision Research on Monday named Diane Houtman VP professional relations. A licensed Optometrist, Houtman will serve as the medical and clinical lead for all AVR projects and will act as corporate liaison to the medical community. 

"[Houtman's] background as a clinician and business executive provides a unique perspective and skill set that will benefit our business both internally and externally with customers," stated Scott Chapman, general manager of Advanced Vision Research.

DALLAS — The Network of Executive Women, Consumer Products and Retail, has elected seven new members to its board at the Network's annual members meeting here during the recent NEW Leadership Summit.

More than 1,000 women and men attended the event, the largest in the organization's 11-year history.

The "Print to Win a Jackpot" sweepstakes is a weekly digital couponing game that gives CouponNetwork.com users a chance to win up to $10,000 a week just by printing coupons. The contest started June 11 and concludes on Sept. 2, with 12 weekly winners.  
 

DEERFIELD, Ill. — Walgreens on Wednesday named Reuben Slone as SVP supply chain management, where he will have leadership responsibility for distribution, transportation, systems integration and engineering, Lean and Six Sigma supply chain initiatives, and community outreach.

Slone will join Walgreens May 16 and will report to Walgreens president of community management Mark Wagner.

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — Skin care company Murad, whose products are sold at several locations, including Sephora and Ulta, has named Beverly Parsons as COO.

Parsons will report to general manager Richard Murad. In this role, Parsons will be responsible for procurement (purchasing, packaging engineering and quality control), as well as supply chain planning, distribution center operations and logistics, and information technology functions.

PITTSBURGH — Thomas Dowd has been named GNC EVP, chief merchandising officer and general manager, the company announced in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing Friday.

Dowd has served as EVP store operations and development since April 2007.

The move follows the announcement in June that Beth Kaplan would be stepping down from her role as GNC president and chief merchandising officer. Following that announcement, GNC CEO Joe Fortunato reassumed his role of president.

BETHEL, Conn. — Procter & Gamble’s Duracell brand, in partnership with the National Volunteer Fire Council, on Monday kicked off a national battery donation program. The Power Those Who Protect Us program is designed to help equip the more than 730,000 volunteer firefighters with supplies they need to help power such firefighting gear as flashlights, breathing apparatuses and emergency personnel locators.
