After its fall season-inspired yogurts, Yoplait, a General Mills brand, is bringing two cocktail-inspired additions to store shelves this spring.

MINNEAPOLIS — After its fall season-inspired yogurts, Yoplait, a General Mills brand, is bringing two cocktail-inspired additions to store shelves this spring: Yoplait Light piña colada and Yoplait Original cosmopolitan-flavored yogurt.

Yoplait Light piña colada contains 5 g of protein per 6 oz.-serving with 90 calories and Yoplait Original cosmopolitan contains 5 g of protein per 6 oz.-serving with 170 calories. Both flavors also are a good source of calcium and vitamin D.

New Green Giant Veggie snack chips will be available in two flavors: Roasted Veggie Tortilla Chips Zesty Cheddar and Multigrain Sweet Potato Chips Sea Salt. The Zesty Cheddar tortilla chips contain 17g of whole grains and the Sweet Potato Chips have 40% less fat than regular potato chips.

The company announced the introduction of Fiber One Protein Bars, available in caramel nut and coconut almond flavors. The caramel nut bar contains seven grams of protein and 130 calories, while the coconut almond bar contains six grams of protein and 140 calories.

General Mills has acquired natural snacks company Food Should Taste Good.

MINNEAPOLIS — General Mills has acquired natural snacks company Food Should Taste Good.

The company, General Mills said, will become part of the consumables giant's natural and organic products business, Small Planet Foods.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but General Mills noted Food Should Taste Good's founder Pete Lescoe will continue with the business as creative director.

General Mills completes Yoplait acquisition

General Mills now has a 51% stake in Yoplait S.A.S. and a 50% interest in a related entity that holds the worldwide Yoplait brands, the company announced Friday.

PARIS — General Mills now has a 51% stake in Yoplait S.A.S. and a 50% interest in a related entity that holds the worldwide Yoplait brands, the company announced Friday.

General Mills acquired the ownership stakes from Europe-based private equity firm PAI Partners and Sodiaal, the largest dairy cooperative in France, for about $1.2 billion. With this transaction, Yoplait will be governed by a supervisory board with representation from General Mills and Sodiaal, as the remaining ownership stakes in both entities will continue to be held by Sodiaal.

Out of all over-the-counter growth categories for the 52 weeks ended April 17, nutritional bars as a category took in more dollars on top of what they had generated the year before than any other category, bar none.
