Four pharmacists from Diplomat are among the 49 across the country who have received certification from the Specialty Pharmacy Certification Board, Diplomat said Monday.

FLINT, Mich. — Four pharmacists from Diplomat are among the 49 across the country who have received certification from the Specialty Pharmacy Certification Board, Diplomat said Monday.

Diplomat said VP clinical services Gary Rice, clinical technology manager Michael Crowe, pharmacy manager Nicole Hubach and clinical manager Ryan Nolan had received the SPCB's Certified Specialty Pharmacist endorsement. The SPCB announced on Nov. 11 the first 49 pharmacists to become CSPs. The tests for the credential were administered in October.

More and more of these high-ticket, high-touch drugs are entering the market via very restricted and exclusive networks as pharmaceutical manufacturers increasingly demand that the pharmacies dispensing those medicines demonstrate advanced clinical, documentation and patient-support capabilities, including the ability to improve adherence rates, conduct risk evaluation and mitigation strategies, and manage and monitor patient outcomes.

TAMPA, Fla. — The Specialty Pharmacy Certification Board has appointed three new members to its board of directors, the group said Monday.

The SPCB announced the appointment of Community Specialty Pharmacy Network VP of industry relations Nick Calla as VP; Diplomat Specialty Pharmacy VP of clinical services Gary Rice as president; and AxelaCare Health Solutions VP of pharmacy operations Donald Filibeck as secretary and treasurer. The group was launched last year.

Diplomat announced that it had made Gary Rice its VP clinical services. Rice had previously worked as Diplomat's director of clinical services.
