GRAND RAPIDS. Mich. — Meijer is sourcing tomatoes from a greenhouse that can grow them year-round, including during the famously frigid winters of the Midwest, the mass merchandise retailer said Monday.

NEW YORK — Burt’s Bees has enhanced its Lip Shimmer with antioxidant-rich fruit seed oils and moisturizing shea butter, and also has updated the shade range.

The 100% natural formula still features the signature cool burst of peppermint oil. The shade range has been updated in keeping with color trends and includes three new shades: cherry, plum and strawberry. The full range includes 12 shades: radiance, champagne, peony, caramel, guava, strawberry, watermelon, rhubarb, cherry, fig, raisin and plum.

WASHINGTON — The Federal Trade Commission last week jointly filed a complaint with the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Connecticut, seeking to permanently stop a Connecticut-based operation that allegedly used fake news websites to promote its products, made deceptive weight-loss claims and told consumers they could receive free trials of acai berry and "colon cleanse" products, only if they paid the nominal cost of shipping and handling.

DENVER — Bazi International on Tuesday launched its energy shot Bazi, which contains a blend of eight superfruits.  

According to the company, only 3-out-of-10 consumers have tried energy shots or drinks. Some of the key barriers of entry include health and safety concerns and an underlying belief that the shots are not good for you.

CHICAGO — Acai berry, cumin, herbal tea, turmeric and long-term use of garlic may negatively impact chemotherapy treatment, according to a new report released Wednesday that originally was presented at the American Society of Clinical Oncology meeting in Chicago this summer.

Researchers from Northwestern Memorial hospital say there is growing evidence that these popular supplements may intensify or weaken the effect of chemotherapy drugs and in some cases, may cause a toxic, even lethal, reaction.

AUSTIN, Texas — Shortly after announcing a partnership with Walgreens, Genesis Today said it would bring its superfruit juices line to Walmart.

Beginning this month, the company will be extending its exclusive line of superfruit juice offerings with four new products that include first-to-market superfruit teas, omega-enriched orange juice and a lower-calorie acai juice.
