Fischer Pharmaceutical announced that it is looking to introduce its sunscreen product to the U.S. market.

BOCA RATON, Fla. — Fischer Pharmaceutical announced that it is looking to introduce its sunscreen product to the U.S. market.

The company announced Monday that it has tapped TransMedia Group to introduce Ultrasol to the United States. According to the company, Ultrasol is a popular sunscreen in Israel, and several U.S.-based retailers, including Walgreens, currently sell the line, which includes an extensive range of lotions and sprays for adults, athletes, kids and babies.

MinuteClinic has surpassed 10 million patient visits since opening its doors in 2000.

WOONSOCKET, R.I. — MinuteClinic has surpassed 10 million patient visits since opening its doors in 2000.

The retail clinic operator, which is owned by CVS Caremark, said that the 10 millionth patient was seen at a clinic in Quincy, Mass., one of the communities where MinuteClinic has opened new locations in the past 18 months.

Publix on Monday reported sales of $6.6 billion for the second quarter, a 5.8% increase. Comparable-store sales for second quarter 2011 increased 4.2%.

LAKELAND, Fla. — Publix on Monday reported sales of $6.6 billion for the second quarter, a 5.8% increase. Comparable-store sales for second quarter 2011 increased 4.2%.

Earnings per share for the second quarter increased to 48 cents for 2011, up from 44 cents per share in 2010.

Effective Aug. 1, 2011, Publix’s stock price increased from $21.65 per share to $22.05 per share. Publix stock is not publicly traded and is made available for sale only to current Publix associates and members of its board of directors.

MINNEAPOLIS — Target opened on Monday three new retail-based health clinics in the Twin Cities as part of its expansion plan announced earlier this year.

As previously reported by Drug Store News, Target announced earlier this year plans to open eight new clinic locations this year in the Twin Cities (four clinics), Chicago (three clinics) and Fort Lauderdale-Davie, Fla., areas (one clinic) by the end of July. The first of the new clinics opened in the Twin Cities on March 2.

Watson Pharmaceuticals last week confirmed that the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit has affirmed the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida's February 2011 decision that Watson's generic versions of Mucinex, Mucinex D and Mucinex DM extended-release products do not infringe Reckitt Benckiser’s U.S. Patent No. 6,372,252.

BOISE, Idaho — Albertsons is pulling the plug on its self-checkout units, which will be replaced by standard "H" lanes or express lanes, the grocer has confirmed.

The 217-store grocer that operates in Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Louisiana, New Mexico, Texas and Utah has self-checkout units installed in roughly 100 of its stores. Those units will be removed by the end of the summer.

According to the grocer, the self-checkout units prevent it from providing the level of customer service it wants to offer its shoppers.

The approximately 7,000 kits, designed to help them learn to live with the condition, include a booklet, savings offers and patient-support videos, and were created based on feedback from CWD members with Type 1 diabetes. Patients can order the kits through their doctors.
