Costco offers Aetna insurance to members in Florida

Health insurer Aetna is offering individual health insurance plans to Costco members in Florida, the insurer said.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Health insurer Aetna is offering individual health insurance plans to Costco members in Florida, the insurer said.

The Costco Personal Health Insurance program includes five plans and offers medical benefits, dental options, a network of doctors and hospitals and other services, as well as lower copays on prescriptions at the club retailer's pharmacies.

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. — Aetna is offering individual health insurance plans to Costco members in California, the health insurer said.

The Costco Personal Health Insurance program includes five plans and offers broad medical benefits, dental options and a large network of doctors and hospitals. The program also is available to members of the club retailer in Arizona, Connecticut, Georgia, Illinois, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Texas and Virginia. Aetna plans to expand the program to other markets in the coming months.

Suspended insurance coverage drives OTC utilization

Insurance coverage is a significant factor that is driving increased OTC utilization — 67% of respondents switched to an OTC once insurance coverage was suspended for a prescription formulation. According to an online survey of more than 900 AccentHealth viewers conducted in September, one-third of consumers reported insurance stopped covering a prescription once an OTC equivalent was available.

Sam's Club extends credit relationship with GE Capital Retail Bank

Sam's Club has extended its relationship with GE Capital Retail Bank, a consumer lending unit of General Electric.

STAMFORD, Conn. — Sam's Club has extended its relationship with GE Capital Retail Bank, a consumer lending unit of General Electric.

GE Capital Retail Bank will continue providing the Sam's Club credit card program to their advantage and business members. GE Capital's retail finance business, the operating entity that provides financial solutions to retailers to help grow their customer sales, will continue to manage the Sam's Club relationship and service the account.
