A new report from the IMS Institute for Healthcare Informatics concludes that fewer than half of the top 50 global pharmaceutical manufacturers “have some level of healthcare social media engagement.” This, despite the fact that “increasingly, patients are turning to social media as an essential forum for obtaining and sharing information related to their health,” noted Murray Aitken, the institute’s executive director.

CVS Caremark made big news — BIG news — when it announced on Feb. 5 that it would pull tobacco products from all of its pharmacy locations.

This is an extremely important step for the company as it sends the strong message that it is truly dedicated to helping people on their path to better health. Stripping away the roughly $2 billion in revenues garnered from the tobacco shopper likely wasn’t an easy decision but it makes sense — a lot of sense — for CVS. It clearly demonstrates to its shoppers, health systems and PBM clients that it is placing patients’ health front and center.

WILTON, Conn. — Skin care company Beiersdorf announced on Thursday a consumer awareness and fundraising initiative to support National Mentoring Month.

To mark this special month, the company, in partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters, will anniversary its three-month consumer awareness and fundraising initiative to raise $100,000. Beiersdorf will donate all proceeds raised in connection with Beiersdorf’s nationwide Fundraising Program, which began in January and runs through March 31.

Publix made the donation to Food for All as part of its Sprinkle Joy campaign, announced earlier this month on its Facebook and Twitter pages, allowing users to make virtual holiday cookies; the filling of the cookie jar triggered donations to charitable organizations.

NEW YORK – Cyber Monday online sales were 17.5% over the same period last year as of 6 p.m. EST on Monday, according to IBM Digital Analytics Benchmark.

Mobile traffic accounted for 29.4% of all online traffic, up almost 62% compared to the same period last year.
