Family Dollar Stores on Wednesday named Jason Reiser to the position of SVP merchandising where he will have executive responsibility for the company’s health, beauty, personal care and household teams. Royal Ahold's U.S. division has appointed a new executive to head the division's brand management and private label development, the company said.

CARLISLE, Pa. — Royal Ahold's U.S. division has appointed Juan De Paoli to head the division's brand management and private-label development, the company said.

Ahold USA announced that it had hired De Paoli as SVP brand management and own brands, effective Monday. Ahold USA runs the Stop & Shop, Giant Food of Landover, Md., and Giant Food Stores of Carlisle, Pa., chains, as well as the Peapod online grocery service.

Medical products manufacturer Becton, Dickinson and Co. has appointed Christopher Reidy as its CFO, the company, more commonly known as BD, said Monday.

FRANKLIN LAKES, N.J. — Medical products manufacturer Becton, Dickinson and Co. has appointed Christopher Reidy as its CFO, the company, more commonly known as BD, said Monday.

BD said Reidy, who will also assume the position of EVP administration on July 15, will report to chairman, CEO and president Vincent Forlenza. Reidy replaces Suketu Upadhyay, who has served as acting CFO since November 2012. Upadhyay will become SVP finance, also effective July 15.

Impax Labs has appointed Mary Pendergast to its board of directors, the generic drug maker said.

HAYWARD, Calif. — Impax Labs has appointed Mary Pendergast to its board of directors, the generic drug maker said.

Impax said Pendergast's appointment became effective last Wednesday. Pendergast is president of legal and regulatory consulting firm Pendergast Consulting. She previously served as deputy commissioner and senior adviser to the commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration for 18 years.

Target co-founder Douglas Dayton passed away during the weekend, according to published reports. He was 88.

NEW YORK — Target Corp. co-founder Douglas Dayton passed away during the weekend, according to published reports. He was 88.

According to Reuters, Dayton is survived by his wife, Wendy, four children and six grandchildren.

Target began as a family-owned company, merging with the J.L. Hudson department store chain in 1969. Dayton became president of Target in 1961, and senior vice president following the merger. The Dayton Hudson Corp. changed its name to Target in 2000. Dayton left the company in 1974.

MINNEAPOLIS — Target Corp. has appointed a former secretary of the interior and senator to its board of directors, the mass merchandise retailer said.

Target announced the appointment of Kenneth Salazar to its board. Salazar, who recently began working for the law firm WilmerHale, served as a Democratic member of the Senate from Colorado from 2005 to 2009 and as interior secretary under the Obama administration from 2009 until earlier this year, when he was replaced by Sally Jewell. His appointment to Target's board is effective immediately.

The head of generic drug maker Impax Labs will retire, the company said Tuesday.

HAYWARD, Calif. — The head of generic drug maker Impax Labs will retire, the company said Tuesday.

Impax said president and CEO Larry Hsu would retire, but would remain with the company until a replacement CEO is found and he would remain as a board member following the appointment of his successor. Hsu cofounded the company in 1994.

A three-person search committee to find a new CEO will include Hsu, Allen Chao and board chairman Bob Burr.

PITTSBURGH — Mylan Specialty has appointed Roger Graham as president, the Mylan subsidiary said Monday.

Graham previously worked for Advandx, a privately owned company that develops in-vitro diagnostic tests for infectious diseases and will report to Mylan North America president Tony Mauro. Mylan Specialty markets the EpiPen auto-injector for emergency treatment of severe allergic reactions, among other products.

Rite Aid reported its third consecutive profitable quarter Thursday, with profits of nearly $90 million, following the introduction of the largest expansion of its Wellness+ loyalty card program, dubbed Wellness65+, and days before the promotion of COO Ken Martindale to president of the company.

The 4,615-store drug chain has been on a roll lately, continuing to benefit from the switch from branded to generic drugs and the retention of last year's dispute between Walgreens and Express Scripts.

Tris Pharma has hired a former buyer from AmerisourceBergen to head its generic drug business, the company said.

MONMOUTH JUNCTION, N.J. — Tris Pharma has hired a former buyer from AmerisourceBergen to head its generic drug business, the company said.

Tris announced the appointment of Janet Penner as president of the new generic pharmaceuticals business, which will have its own sales, marketing and distribution and will be responsible for bringing drugs to market. So far, the Food and Drug Administration has approved 13 of Tris' generics, including several first-to-market products.
