Former Elizabeth Arden exec launches new skin care line

Vargas Cosmetics has announced the introduction of Tilth Beauty, a new skin care line created by Anthony Vargas.

NEW YORK — Vargas Cosmetics has announced the introduction of Tilth Beauty, a new skin care line created by Anthony Vargas, former VP of research and development for Elizabeth Arden.

After 25 years with Arden, Vargas started Vargas Cosmetics and launched Tilth Beauty.  It debuted exclusively online in October and will be available in salons and retail outlets in 2013.

Elizabeth Arden has acquired from Give Back Brands the global licenses and certain related assets for the Justin Bieber and Nicki Minaj fragrance brands.

NEW YORK — Elizabeth Arden has acquired from Give Back Brands the global licenses and certain related assets for the Justin Bieber and Nicki Minaj fragrance brands.

Someday, the first fragrance from popstar Justin Bieber, launched in U.S department stores in spring 2011. The second fragrance, Justin Bieber's Girlfriend, is launching in U.S. department stores this summer. The first fragrance from R&B/hip hop artist Nicki Minaj is scheduled to launch at U.S. department stores this fall.

Elizabeth Arden, Liz Claiborne amend licensing agreement

Elizabeth Arden has amended its long-term license agreement with Liz Claiborne to acquire the trademarks for the Curve fragrance brands and selected other smaller fragrance brands.

NEW YORK — Elizabeth Arden has amended its long-term license agreement with Liz Claiborne to acquire the trademarks for the Curve fragrance brands and selected other smaller fragrance brands.

The amendment also includes a lower effective royalty rate for the remaining licensed fragrance brands, including Juicy Couture and Lucky Brand fragrances, reduces the future minimum guaranteed royalties for the term of the license and requires a pre-payment of royalties for the remainder of calendar 2011.

Violet-eyed Elizabeth Taylor was a legendary actress who not only made a lasting impression on the big screen with her sultry screen persona but also had a tremendous impact on the fragrance industry with the launch of her first fragrance in 1987.

NEW YORK — Violet-eyed Elizabeth Taylor was a legendary actress who not only made a lasting impression on the big screen with her sultry screen persona but also had a tremendous impact on the fragrance industry with the launch of her first fragrance in 1987.

Taylor died Wednesday of congestive heart failure at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. She was 79.

NEW YORK Elizabeth Arden has signed an exclusive global licensing deal with music star Taylor Swift to develop her own line of fragrance products.

 

The deal includes the development, marketing and distribution of fragrances and ancillary products. The first fragrance will debut in prestige retailers in North America during fall 2011. Swift will be involved in all aspects of product development, packaging and advertising.
