NEW YORK — Coty Inc. reported on Tuesday a boost in fiscal 2013 new revenues, thanks in part to growth in its fragrance and color cosmetics segments.

Net revenues for fiscal 2013 totaled $4.6 billion, up 2% like-for-like and 1% as reported from the prior-year period. The like-for-like growth was driven, in part, by strong performances of its Rimmel, Marc Jacobs, Chloe and Playboy brands.

PLEASANTON, Calif. — Safeway on Tuesday announced that it has adopted a one-year stockholder rights plan. 

The company has become aware of an accumulation of a significant amount of the common stock of the company, Safeway stated. The board of directors believes that the rights plan will help promote the fair and equal treatment of all stockholders of the company and ensure that the board remains in the best position to discharge its fiduciary duties to the company and its stockholders.

ABBOTT PARK, Ill. — Dow Jones has named Abbott an industry group leader in its 2013 Dow Jones Sustainability Index, Abbott said Thursday.

The drug maker said it achieved the top spot among healthcare companies and was one of only 24 companies selected for leading their respective industries, chosen from among 3,000 companies worldwide.

The board of directors of AmerisourceBergen has authorized a new $750 million share repurchase program.

VALLEY FORGE, Pa. — The board of directors of AmerisourceBergen has authorized a new $750 million share repurchase program.

AmerisourceBergen expects to use the new program to repurchase its outstanding shares of common stock, subject to market conditions. The company has $446.1 million remaining on its prior November 2012 authorization, bringing the total amount authorized for repurchases to $1.2 billion. To date in fiscal year 2013, which ends Sept. 30, the company has spent $401.1 million to repurchase its outstanding shares of common stock.

Emdeon announced Friday that it would expand the capabilities of the Emdeon Payment Network, a large, automated payment distribution system for the healthcare industry. The expansion includes the recent opening of a new 100,000-sq.-ft. facility in St. Louis dedicated to supporting the network, which currently reaches about 60,000 pharmacies, 500,000 providers, 81,000 dentists, 1,200 hospitals and 300 labs.

Rite Aid said it has finished a cash offer for $810 million in senior notes with a 9.5% interest rate due 2017, funded with proceeds from a previous sale of $810 million worth of 6.75% senior notes due 2021.

CAMP HILL, Pa. — Rite Aid has completed an effort to refinance half a billion dollars in debt, the retail pharmacy chain said Friday, fresh off its announcement the day before of its third consecutive profitable quarter.

Rite Aid said it completed a portion of transactions to extend the maturity of part of its outstanding indebtedness, which it said would lower interest expenses. The company has about $6 billion in debt, according to its fiscal year 2013 annual report.

CAMP HILL, Pa. — Rite Aid is offering to buy back $810 million worth of debt while increasing the amount of a new bond sale announced Tuesday, the retail pharmacy chain said.

Rite Aid said it would buy back all of its $810 million worth of 9.5% senior notes due 2017. The company also said it would increase the $400 million offering of 6.75% senior notes due 2021 by another $410 million, for a total of $810 million, as part of a debt-refinancing plan.

Rite Aid announced Wellness65+, which makes customers age 65 years and older who enroll automatically eligible for an expanded pharmacist consultation, during which they can bring in current medications for a review by the pharmacist and discuss immunization needs.
