Healthcare product sales through the nation’s primary healthcare distributors hit a record high of $294 billion in 2011, according to the 2012-2013 HDMA Factbook released Friday.

Specifically, pharmaceutical products moved by distributors represent approximately 90% of sales in the United States.

Shopko names interim CEO

Shopko announced Wednesday that Mike Bettiga has been named interim CEO to replace Paul Jones, who resigned to pursue another opportunity.

GREEN BAY, Wis. — Shopko announced Wednesday that Mike Bettiga has been named interim CEO to replace Paul Jones, who resigned to pursue another opportunity.

Bettiga is a 35-veteran of the company and most recently served as EVP and COO, a role he has held since April 2009. He began his career with Shopko as a pharmacist in 1977, and has held a number of positions during his tenure, including executive leadership of store, pharmacy and optical operations, retail health merchandising and responsibility for the Shopko Express stores.

Mead Johnson sets succession plan in motion as CEO announces retirement

Mead Johnson Nutrition on Friday announced that the company's president and CEO, Steve Golsby, will retire by the 2013 annual meeting of stockholders.

GLENVIEW, Ill. — Mead Johnson Nutrition on Friday announced that the company's president and CEO, Steve Golsby, will retire by the 2013 annual meeting of stockholders. Mead Johnson's board selected Kasper Jakobsen, EVP and COO, to serve as CEO-elect.

Jakobsen is expected to succeed Golsby as Mead Johnson Nutrition president and CEO upon Golsby’s retirement, the company said. Jakobsen will continue in his role as COO, and the current senior leadership structure and reporting relationships will remain in effect.

HERSHEY, Pa. — Hershey's leader is bidding the confectioner farewell, the company announced Wednesday.

David West, who has worked at Hershey for 10 years and serves as its president and CEO, is leaving his post to become CEO of Del Monte. The candy maker's board of directors appointed EVP and COO John Bilbrey to serve as the company's interim president and CEO.

Bilbrey joined Hershey in 2003 as SVP and president, Hershey International.

CAMDEN, N.J. Campbell Soup Co.'s chief executive is retiring at the end of the company's fiscal year.

 

Doug Conant will step down from his role as president and CEO, a position he has held since 2001, on July 31, 2011, the company said Tuesday. Campbell's board of directors appointed EVP and COO Denise Morrison to lead the company at the beginning of fiscal 2012. Morrison also has been elected a director of the company as of Oct. 1.
