IBM's fifth annual "Online Retail Holiday Readiness" report has uncovered that 2012 may just be the year of mobile.

ARMONK, N.Y. — IBM's fifth annual "Online Retail Holiday Readiness" report has uncovered that 2012 may just be the year of mobile.

Based on data from more than 500 U.S. retailers, the report found that online mobile sales increased 88.8% in second quarter 2012, compared with year-ago period.

What's more, IBM is forecasting that mobile sales will reach 20% of total online holiday sales this holiday season, and that mobile traffic will close in on 25%.

Chobani announced that it broke ground on a new state-of-the-art, high capacity production facility.

NORWICH, N.Y. — Chobani announced that it broke ground on a new state-of-the-art, high capacity production facility.

The domestic manufacturing plant, based in Twin Falls, Idaho, will span 940,000 sq. ft. This facility, Chobani said, will create more than 400 jobs and allow the company to bring product innovations to market.

Production at the new plant is anticipated to start in the second half of 2012.

A report released Thursday by Bloomberg said that U.S. consumer confidence held last week at the second-lowest level of 2011 as the highest number of households in three years said it was a bad time to spend.

WASHINGTON — A report released Thursday by Bloomberg said that U.S. consumer confidence held last week at the second-lowest level of 2011 as the highest number of households in three years said it was a bad time to spend.

The Bloomberg Consumer Comfort Index was minus 49.3 in the period to Sept. 11, near the 2011 low of minus 49.4 reached in May. The buying climate gauge slumped to the lowest level since October 2008.

According to the report, the majority — 9-out-of-10 — of Americans polled had a negative view on the economy.

The drug store chain, which uses vendor Epsilon to deploy its email promotional messages, said that law enforcement authorities were notified and are investigating the matter. The company also emphasized that email addresses were the only information obtained in this incident.

Consolidated net income increased by $7.3 million to $16.8 million, or 24 cents per diluted share, versus $9.5 million in the prior year, or 14 cents per diluted share.
