NEW YORK — GlaxoSmithKline is offering a recycling program for empty inhalers at retail pharmacies in 31 cities, the drug maker said Wednesday.

The company announced its "Complete the Cycle" program for GSK respiratory inhalers, starting in October.

NORTH WALES, Pa. — The Food and Drug Administration has approved a version of a drug made by Teva that includes a dose counter, the drug maker said.

Teva announced the approval of the inhaled drug ProAir HFA (albuterol sulfate) with a dose counter for treating bronchospasm with reversible obstructive airway disease and preventing exercise-induced bronchospasm in patients ages 4 years and older. The dose counter is designed to help patients and caregivers keep track of the number of doses in the canister.

ATLANTA — M&M Products' Sofn’free hair care brand has developed the new Nothing But line for textured hair, which is free of phthalates and five ingredients common in hair care.

The line — which is designed to appeal to “naturalistas, fashionistas and recessionistas” — is free of petrolatum, mineral oil, sulfates, parabens, colorants and phthalates. The formula also is free of drying alcohols and animal proteins.

BOSTON — InhalerWear on Tuesday announced its launch of a neoprene cover for inhalers that will help make carrying around an inhaler “trendy and cool” to children and teenagers. The new inhaler can be clipped to a backpack, purse or belt loop.

"We started InhalerWear because we knew the challenge facing parents was not in getting their kids to use their inhaler, but to get them to carry their inhalers with them at all times,” stated co-founder Rob Fiore.
