Yankee Candle introduces 11 new fragrances

The Yankee Candle Co. has introduced a new line of scented candles for spring, the company said.

SOUTH DEERFIELD, Mass. — The Yankee Candle Co. has introduced a new line of scented candles for spring, the company said Tuesday.

Yankee announced the launch of five new Yankee Candle fragrances and six new fragrances in its Pure Radiance line, with beach and exotic fruit scents to remind people of vacations in tropical places. The candles will be available at more than 564 Yankee Candle stores, yankeecandle.com and various specialty retailers and gift shops.

Report: Walgreens plans to create more jobs, expand HQ

Over the next three years, Walgreens plans to create 500 new jobs in the Chicago area and invest $75 million to expand and renovate its Deerfield, Ill., offices in a deal that will cede Walgreens $47 million in state tax credits for retaining 1,500 existing jobs, according to an early morning report published by the Chicago Sun-Times on Friday.

Walgreens brings in new year with larger marketbasket

Walgreens on Thursday posted January sales of $5.9 billion, representing an increase of 11.3% from last year.

DEERFIELD, Ill. — Walgreens on Thursday posted January sales of $5.9 billion, representing an increase of 11.3% from last year. Early morning trading of Walgreens stock was up 51 cents to $42.48.

Only 2.8 percentage points of that increase can be attributed to the acquisition of Duane Reade, the Deerfield, Ill.-based retailer stated. Total front-end sales increased 11.5% in January, and pharmacy sales increased 10.8%, accounting for 66.1% of total sales for the month.
