The pharmacy automation and management systems made by ScriptPro will begin using biometric authentication technology from Xelios Biometrics, under a multi-year licensing agreement between the two companies.

MISSION, Kan. — The pharmacy automation and management systems made by ScriptPro will begin using biometric authentication technology from Xelios Biometrics, under a multi-year licensing agreement between the two companies.

The companies said such biometric identifiers as fingerprints would be more reliable in verifying identity than identification cards or personal identification numbers, which are currently used in ScriptPro's systems. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Amaericans, on average, eat about twice as much salt as the suggested daily allowance. Too much salt can cause high blood pressure and lead to other health-related problems.

Watson Pharmaceuticals plans to expand its manufacturing and research and development plant in Salt Lake City, the drug maker said.

SALT LAKE CITY — Watson Pharmaceuticals plans to expand its manufacturing and research and development plant in Salt Lake City, the drug maker said.

The $44 million expansion of the plant will include retrofitting about 20,000 sq. ft. of space and the construction of about 17,000 additional sq. ft. The expansion of the plant, which makes transdermal patches and topical gels, is expected to include the addition of about 300 new employees over the next three to five years.
