The year marked the 20th anniversary of Walgreens' partnership with JDRF to raise funds for research to put an end to Type 1 diabetes.

Sales of craft kits and art supplies “remain strong with a slight uptick,” according to Adrienne Appell, a spokeswoman for the Toy Industry Association. This segment of the toy category was up 7% in 2010 over 2009, according to the NPD Group, and is expected to perform well in 2011.

Some big winners for the holiday season were Spin Master’s Bizu, Crayola’s Glow Book and Fashion Angels’ “Project Runway” fashion design sketch portfolio. All retail for less than $20.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The Global Marketing Development Center's 2011 General Merchandise Marketing Conference featured more than 300 items in the Showcase Plus display earlier this month, GMDC said Wednesday.

The Showcase Plus allowed suppliers to present 4-ft. inline sections, as well as individual retail items, to the 165 wholesale/retail members who were in attendance.

New postage-paid greetings, which will range in price from $2.69 to $3.99, feature the U.S. Postal Service’s Intelligent Mail bar code on the front of the envelope. More than 200 varieties of everyday postage-paid greetings will be available.

NEW YORK Cartoon Network's global licensing and merchandising arm has inked a deal with a greeting card manufacturer.

Cartoon Network Enterprises said its long-term partnership with Hallmark Cards will include greeting cards and party supply items based on Cartoon Network’s portfolio of brands, including Ben 10 Ultimate Alien, Generator Rex and Adventure Time, CNE said.

Hallmark’s product offerings will be available throughout North America.
