NEENAH, Wis. — Menasha Packaging has expanded its Folding Carton Group facility in Neenah, Wis., which will mean greater efficiency and faster production, the company has announced.

The expansion added 26,500 square feet to the initial 109,000-square-foot facility, plus 59,000 square feet in warehouse space that includes a new shipping area and receiving area.

The Paperboard and Packaging Council awarded Menasha Packaging Co. its Excellence Award at the 70th annual North American Paperboard Packaging Competition for its regimen kit created for Unilever's Nexxus Youth Renewal product line, Menasha said Thursday.

NEENAH, Wis. — The Paperboard and Packaging Council awarded Menasha Packaging Co. its Excellence Award at the 70th annual North American Paperboard Packaging Competition for its regimen kit created for Unilever's Nexxus Youth Renewal product line, Menasha said Thursday.

The entry features a book-style outer carton with a window and intricately designed insert displaying product contents while holding them securely in place, as well as specialty coating and foil stamping.

RACINE, Wis. — ITW's global Space Bag brand now is part of SC Johnson.

SC Johnson said it agreed to acquire the space-saving storage brand and expects the deal to be finalized in next few months subject to U.S. regulatory clearances and currently is working on developing transition plans for the business. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

This transition eliminated the use of more than 17 million pounds of corrugated boxes, the grocer reported.

Thermos Foogo drinkware includes Tripoli, a gray and green throwback design and Poppy Patch, a strawberry and black floral print. The BPA-free drink cups are offered in double wall vacuum insulated stainless steel and in Eastman Tritan copolymer. Foogo drinkware also features three interchangeable lid types that create 24 possible drinkware combinations, Thermos said.

BROOMFIELD, Colo. — Hiball Energy said its line of reformulated sparkling energy waters and organic energy drinks now are packaged in cold-activated, lightweight 16-oz. aluminum cans developed by Ball.

The new can package features "cold activation" graphics using thermochromic ink by Chromatic Technologies. When cans reach a temperature of 45 degrees F, the bubbles on the can graphics turn from white to blue — indicating that the beverage inside is at the optimal temperature for drinking.

ATLANTA — Expect to see Heinz in a whole new way.

The company said it has entered a strategic partnership with Coca-Cola to implement the soft drink giant's PlantBottle packaging in the production of its Heinz Ketchup bottles. PlantBottle packaging is made of PET plastic bottles that are fully recyclable and use less nonrenewable resources than traditional PET plastic bottles, according to the companies. Heinz said the adoption of the PlantBottle technology will be the biggest change to its iconic ketchup bottles since they first introduced plastic in 1983.

RACINE, Wis. — SC Johnson's Ziploc brand is looking to reduce potential product waste by sponsoring a recycling initiative.

Teaming up with Recyclebank, Ziploc will reduce its environmental footprint by sponsoring the nationwide expansion of Recyclebank's rewards-for-recycling platform, which seeks to keep potential waste out of landfills by increasing recycling behavior. The goal is to divert more than 100 million lbs. of waste from landfills within 24 months, the companies said.
