The spray is made with 100% coconut oil and is ideal for gluten-free cooking, the company said. PAM also cited an Omnibus survey that indicated high consumer interest in the coconut oil spray.

OMAHA, Neb. — A new version of ConAgra Foods' Pam cooking spray is designed to be calorie-free and leave less residue, the company said.

The food company said that the new Pam leaves up to 99% less residue and is available in three varieties: original, baking and butter.

OMAHA, Neb. — A class action lawsuit recently was filed against ConAgra Foods for claiming that its Hebrew National products are kosher, the company confirmed.

Hebrew National, a more-than-100-year-old brand known for its hot dogs and other packaged products, has touted kosher status since its establishment, ConAgra Foods said, who added that this lawsuit "is without merit."

OMAHA, Neb. — The charitable arm of ConAgra Foods announced the donation of nearly $500,000 to support the fight to end child hunger.

Through its Community Impact Grants program, the ConAgra Foods Foundation said 13 nonprofit organizations across 10 states were awarded $20,000 to $75,000 grants with the goal of finding innovative approaches to addressing child hunger. Since 2009, the ConAgra Foods Foundation's Community Impact Grants program has invested approximately $1.4 million in 31 nonprofit organizations across the country.

OMAHA, Neb. — In an effort to grow its presence in private-label foods, ConAgra Foods has acquired the pita chip business of Kangaroo Brands.

The acquisition includes a manufacturing facility located in Milwaukee, Wis., and approximately 50 employees who joined ConAgra Foods from Kangaroo Brands. Kangaroo Brands will continue to own and market its pita bread and frozen sandwiches. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Egg Beaters Florentine is the newest flavor in the line of flavored Egg Beaters, and like all Egg Beaters varieties is made of real, all-natural egg whites, according to the company. One serving of Egg Beaters Florentine contains 4 g of protein, less than 5 mg of cholesterol, less than 0.5 g of fat and only 30 calories, ConAgra stated.

OMAHA, Neb. — ConAgra Foods has completed its acquisition of private-label pretzel maker National Pretzel, the company announced.

The company announced its agreement to acquire National Pretzel from Brookstone Holding on Nov. 11. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Lancaster, Pa.-based National Pretzel includes three bakeries located in Lancaster, Pa., Hanover, Pa., and Visalia, Calif. Additionally, more than 700 National Pretzel employees officially joined ConAgra as part of the transaction, the company said.

ConAgra said its acquisition of Lancaster, Pa.-based National Pretzel includes three bakeries located in Lancaster, Pa., Hanover, Pa., and Visalia, Calif. Additionally, more than 700 National Pretzel employees are expected to join ConAgra when the transaction closes, ConAgra noted.

The acquisition is expected to close within 30 days. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Ro*Tel said its zesty tomato and green chili sauce adds spicy flavor to any meal, especially Tex/Mex recipes. The sauce is available in original and mild varieties.

Ro*Tel's zesty tomato and green chili sauce is available in an 8-oz. can for a suggested retail price of 69 cents and will be sold at select grocery chains and mass retailers nationwide.

WASHINGTON — The Grocery Manufacturers Association elected a new chairman for its board of directors.

Gary Rodkin, ConAgra Foods CEO, will serve as chairman of GMA's board, effective Feb. 16. Rodkin will serve a two-year term.

Prior to this position, Rodkin served as GMA's vice chairman, as well as chairman of the organization's government affairs council. Rodkin has worked at ConAgra since 2005.
