In December, Walgreens celebrated a major milestone when it opened store No. 8,000 in Los Angeles at the famed corner of Sunset and Vine. The store, Walgreens first West Coast-based flagship location, is the site of the former Tower Record store and perhaps more notably, the site of the former Schwab's drug store, where such Hollywood starlets as Lana Turner are rumored to have been discovered.

NEW YORK — Target is looking to compete with the likes of Netflix and Hulu with a video-streaming service it is beta testing with employees, according to published reports.

The Minneapolis-St. Paul Business Journal reported that the mass merchandise retailer was testing Target Ticket, which currently offers access to 15,000 movies and TV shows. Features of the new service include parental controls, streaming and downloading for playback on desktop computers and mobile devices.

Participants responded via AccentHealth's national, online panel of network viewers, and the survey yielded 644 respondents who were at least 18 years of age and owned either a smartphone, cell phone with Internet access or a tablet.

With the reset, the mass retailer extended its VMS offering by four linear feet, which now extends the full aisle. And across the aisle from VMS are adult meal replacement options, stocking everything from bars to shakes. The aisle spills out onto the prescription drop-off counter, which is likely by design, as people waiting to fill their monthly chronic-disease scripts now will be standing between two aisles that could enable a healthy lifestyle change.
