CVS/pharmacy is touting its stores as a "one-stop shop" for Valentine's Day shopping.

WOONSOCKET, R.I. — CVS/pharmacy is touting its stores as a "one-stop shop" for Valentine's Day shopping.

The retail pharmacy chain said Tuesday that stores had stocked up on items like cards and candy, including chocolates from companies like Hershey's, Lindt, Dove, Ferrero Rocher, Ghirardelli, Godiva and others.

PERRYSBURG, Ohio — Prescription vial manufacturer Rexam has a deal with Rx Timer Cap to adapt the cap to its vials, Rexam said.

Rexam said the partnership would help improve medication adherence. The Rx Timer Cap has a built-in LCD timer that automatically counts the minutes and hours since patients last took their medication.

Giant, also known as Giant-Landover to distinguish it from fellow Ahold banner Giant Food Stores of Carlisle, Pa., awarded the cards to customer Sarah Calamore and her family as part of its "Coupon to end All Coupons" sweepstakes, which encouraged customers to "like" the retailer's Facebook page.

Walgreens and the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care announced on Thursday that half of the primary care worksite health centers managed by Walgreens Employer Solutions Group have received Medical Home accreditation, with plans to have all of the company’s employer-based primary care centers accredited in the first half of 2013.

Rite Aid maintained its same-store sales momentum, posting gains across front-end and pharmacy comparable sales for the sixth consecutive quarter: Overall same-store sales were up 2.5%, reflecting a 2.7% increase across the front-end and a 2.4% uptick across pharmacy, for the first quarter ended June 2.

CAMP HILL, Pa. — Rite Aid maintained its same-store sales momentum, posting gains across front-end and pharmacy comparable sales for the sixth consecutive quarter: Overall same-store sales were up 2.5%, reflecting a 2.7% increase across the front-end and a 2.4% uptick across pharmacy, for the first quarter ended June 2. Comparable prescriptions filled were up 3%, much of that from prescriptions coming out of the Walgreens-Express Scripts dispute (patients that Rite Aid plans on keeping), but that isn't the only reason Rite Aid's pharmacy business is on the rise.

CAMP HILL, Pa. — Retail pharmacy chain Rite Aid is promoting healthy skin care as part of a partnership with the Skin Cancer Foundation, the retailer said Wednesday.

The new campaign offers free skin care guides in stores and online, expert advice from pharmacists and continued support for the fifth annual Road to Healthy Skin Tour, also offered under a collaboration with the foundation. The tour, launched in March, is visiting more than 50 Rite Aid stores around the country and offering free, full-body skin cancer screenings.

In fact, the research suggested that the balance of power already may be tipping in favor of social marketing, particularly in certain categories and definitely among certain consumers.
