The Dual Value Health Card enables employers and health plans to combine a member/employee healthcare funding purse with a restricted-spend purse for targeted items and incentives.

CARLISLE, Pa. — Giant-Carlisle has opened its 100th gas station, the supermarket chain said.

Giant-Carlisle, officially known as Giant Food Stores and owned by Ahold, said the gas station opened at a store in Souderton, Pa. The chain offers a loyalty program, Gas Extra Rewards, that provides discounts on gas when people shop at the supermarket's front end and pharmacy.

PITTSBURGH — The Food and Drug Administration approved a new generic drug made by Mylan for urinary disorders, the company said Thursday.

Mylan announced the approval and launch of tolterodine tartrate tablets in the 1-mg and 2-mg strengths. The drug is a generic version of Detrol, made by Pharmacia and Upjohn, now owned by Pfizer.

Used to treat overactive bladder, tolterodine tartrate tablets had sales of about $61.5 million during the 12-month period ended in September, according to IMS Health.

NEW YORK — Cerberus Capital Management, which owns Albertsons LLC, may be looking to reunite the stores as it has reportedly emerged as a possible suitor to acquire all or part of Supervalu, according to published reports. 

Cerberus is reportedly seeking $4 billion to $5 billion in debt financing from banks and is looking at investing equity of $800 million to $900 million, a person familiar with the matter reportedly said, although the source cautioned that the figures could change, according to reports.

NEW YORK — Pfizer is buying the maker of an attention deficit hyperactivity disorder drug for almost $700 million, Pfizer said Monday.

The drug maker announced that it would buy privately owned NextWave Pharmaceuticals, which makes the extended-release ADHD drug Quillivant XR (methylphenidate hydrochloride), which the Food and Drug Administration approved last month. The drug is expected to appear in pharmacies in January 2013.

NEW YORK — Online grocery retailer Peapod will set up three sites in Chicago where people can pick up groceries they've ordered, according to published reports.

The Chicago Tribune reported Monday that Ahold-owned Peapod would open three locations in the Chicago suburbs of Palatine, Ill., Schaumburg, Ill., and Deerfield, Ill.

The reports follow closely an Aug. 28 announcement by Peapod that it would allow customers in the Boston area to pick up groceries at a local Stop & Shop store, another banner owned by Ahold.

AMITYVILLE, N.Y. — Hi-Tech Pharmacal has acquired rights to a topical drug for treating dermatoses of the scalp from Watson, Hi-Tech said Monday.

Hi-Tech announced the acquisition of Cormax (clobetasol propionate) topical solution for an undisclosed sum. The drug had sales of about $600,000 in 2011, according to IMS Health. The drug maker acquired the drug through its ECR Pharmaceuticals subsidiary and plans to launch it this month.
