Pepsi's 60-second "King's Court" ad will feature "The X Factor" winner Melanie Amaro singing for Grammy-winning music legend Sir Elton John who plays a "king of rock" in the commercial. Amaro will sing a contemporary version of "Respect," a song made famous by Aretha Franklin.

PepsiCo announced that Diet Mountain Dew, Brisk and Starbucks ready-to-drink beverages each have garnered more than $1 billion in annual retail sales, expanding the company's portfolio of billion-dollar brands to 22. PepsiCo said it has doubled the size of its billion-dollar brand portfolio since 2000, adding five new billion-dollar brands in the past five years.

Consumers are invited to visit the brand's Facebook page to submit video — 60 seconds or less — detailing why they deserve a lifetime supply of Pepsi Max. The "Pepsi Max for Life" video contest runs through Feb. 13.

The new campaign, "Nothing Refreshes Like a Diet Pepsi," features "Modern Family" star Sofia Vergara, who uses her wit and charm to dance her way past a cast of suitors to get a can of Diet Pepsi. In addition to the TV spot, the campaign also will be supported by new print, digital and out-of-home ads.

Agreements were signed with Virent, Gevo and Avantium after Coca-Cola’s research and development team and technical advisory board conducted a two-year analysis of different technologies.

The new recommended pricing for an 8-pack of Coca-Cola mini cans, which are 7.5 oz. each, will reduce the average price for the package to just under $3. This makes the per can cost comparable with that of the typical price of a 12-oz. Coca-Cola can fridge pack.

MISSISSAUGA, Ontario — PepsiCo's Canada operations has introduced its first soft drink bottle made from 100% recycled PET plastic.

The company said that its 7UP soft drink will be available in the EcoGreen bottle in Canada. With the introduction of the 7UP EcoGreen bottle in Canada, PepsiCo Beverages Canada will reduce the amount of virgin plastic used by approximately 6 million lbs. over the course of one year.

ATLANTA — The president of Coca-Cola subsidiary Odwalla will step into a new role next month, according to published reports.

Alison Lewis will become Coca-Cola's SVP marketing, replacing Beatriz Perez, who was promoted to chief sustainability officer at the company in May.

In her new role, Lewis will oversee integrated marketing communications, multicultural marketing and consumer and shopper insights, according to reports.

The recent collaboration was brokered through The Joester Loria Group, Pepsi's exclusive licensing agency for North America, and Act III Licensing in conjunction with the Ray Charles Marketing Group, the licensing agency for The Ray Charles Foundation. PURCHASE, N.Y. — PepsiCo said that it is ready to test market a new reduced-sugar cola.

The company said that its latest innovation, Pepsi Next, would be available in the Iowa and Wisconsin markets. The beverage offers consumers the taste of a full-calorie cola while touting less sugar, Pepsi said at the Beverage Digest Wall Street Smarts conference on Monday.

ATLANTA — Coca-Cola is celebrating its 125th anniversary with a new 1.25-liter package.

The new package for the iconic soft drink is hitting store shelves across the Southeast, with additional rollouts planned across the United States this summer. Additionally, a variety of other brands, including Diet Coke, Coke Zero, Sprite and Fanta, also will be available in the new 1.25-liter bottle.

The 1.25-liter bottle will retail for less than $1, Coca-Cola said.
