Prasco Labs will act as the distributor for an authorized generic version of a Shire anticonvulsant drug, the company said Thursday.

CINCINNATI — Prasco Labs will act as the distributor for an authorized generic version of a Shire anticonvulsant drug, the company said Thursday.

Prasco announced that it had partnered with Shire to distribute carbamazepine extended-release capsules in the 100-mg, 200-mg and 300-mg strengths. The drug is an authorized generic version of Carbatrol, used to treat certain types of seizures and pain.

Authorized generics are branded drugs sold under their generic names at a reduced price.

CINCINNATI — Procter & Gamble on Monday announced that NFL quarterback Drew Brees will be the first-ever "VapoDad" representing Vicks VapoRub.

Appearing alongside his son Baylen, Brees will be seen in television and print advertisements for VapoRub this upcoming cold and flu season.

Historically, VapoRub has only featured women as the primary caregiver in its advertisements. With fathers becoming increasingly involved in the upbringing of their children, Vicks felt it was important to feature its first "VapoDad."

CINCINNATI — Prasco Labs will make authorized generic versions of two psychiatric drugs made by Eli Lilly under a partnership between the two companies announced Thursday.

Prasco will market authorized generic versions of Zyprexa (olanzapine) tablets and Zyprexa Zydis orally disintegrating tablets. The drugs are used to treat schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
