HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. — Dove is pairing its chocolate with a new bite-sized candy that combines taste and texture.

New Dove chocolate-covered raisins and peanuts is the latest "hand to mouth" candy from the brand, which will debut on store shelves this spring for a suggested retail price of $3.49 for a 5-oz. bag.

The launch will be supported by a creative, multifaceted marketing campaign, including print, broadcast, online/social media, consumer promotions, in-store and shopper marketing.

The company said its strawberry flavor will be available in a 2.8-oz. bag, building on the brand's line of convenient smaller bag sizes.

SEATTLE — Seattle Chocolates has rolled out two chocolate bars designed to sweeten up Valentine's Day.

The Red Hot truffle bar features dark chocolate with cinnamon oil and crushed cinnamon candy pieces, while the Pink Bubbly candy bar includes freeze dried raspberries in white chocolate with champagne and all-natural popping candy pieces.

The Valentine's Day bars retail for approximately $3 and are available now through Feb. 14 in specialty boutiques and fine grocery stores nationwide.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Peeps has introduced chocolate dipped caramel-flavored marshmallow chicks in time for the holiday season, the company announced Monday.

The marshmallow chicks are a creamy caramel flavor dipped in either milk or dark chocolate, the company said. The new flavor is available 3-count packages.

Seasonal candy powers the category. Last year, chocolate and nonchocolate seasonal sales were strong for Valentine’s Day and Easter. Data from the National Confectioners Association showed that slight markdowns taken one week before the holiday can generate a significant spike in sales and leave retailers with less product to move at higher markdowns after the holiday.

Since licensed merchandise is a big part of the profitable seasonal category, retailers need a mix that appeals to both genders.
